Great Bacon Press

This pre-seasoned bacon press works very good. One thing I would change is covering the slot they cut. Love that the press comes seasoned. Made my life less difficult since I didn't have to season it!
a rough rooster

Since I ordered it basically because of the rooster design, I'll say "its OK". The customer service was good- responding to my complaint email when the first box arrived damaged and empty. I received a reply on a Sunday! The second shipment arrived fairly quickly but again the box was damaged because of poor packing materials. The handle is wobbly and has to be tightened every time I use it- which is turning out to be more frequent that I'd originally planned. It does hold the bacon strips down and prevents warping. The meat itself seems to cook faster with less splattering. The surface of the iron is rough and not easy to wipe clean because little bits of the towel get stuck to the surface. (Unlike cleaning a skillet that you can wipe out with a paper towel, I now use a plastic dish scrubber and warm water, then warm it dry in the clean pan.) The screw heads protrude from the back of the iron and get gunked up so I have to scrub around them carefully. My husband used a metal file and was able to remove a dangerously sharp edge from the handle- i think it was where the spring coil was welded to the handle.
All in all, it is cute and wasn't terribly expensive so it gets 3 stars. I'd have given it more stars if it was made in USA. But it is not.

I love my bacon press!!! One thing to be aware of is that grease may get stuck in the screws that hold the handle on.
cute, but mine arrived slightly damaged.

So I'm sure this would work, but mine arrived missing one of the washers and nuts holding the handle on, and it was a little scratched up, so I sent it back. I was also worried a little bit about the grease getting all up in where the screw goes through the plate. I opted for a different style instead. Too bad because this one was really a cute design.

The first thing I noticed is that it arrived very well seasoned, which makes it a breeze to clean after use. I wipe off the oil with a paper towel, then swish it with a dishcloth, under hot water, and as with all seasoned pans, no soap, ever. It fits my 10.5" pan just right, and has sufficient heft to flatten items and assure an even level of doneness.
