but the best is on the door itself

Must be precisely aligned in order to hold. Even a 1/8th error will not provide full contact. There is some adjustment to each base, but the best is on the door itself. Once properly done (1 hour for me), then it has been holding well.

This works great. To my surprise it is quite good at catching the door and as a plus it is a cushioned stop so very little noise. The magnet is fairly strong but not so strong that it makes a "snap" or anything like that. Releasing is simple as well. It's more or less like your door opens and closes as if the item were not there.
