Summer vacation at grandma's house means crafts! And what's the best craft? Painting! We love crafts that end up with a memorable keepsake. This adorable butterfly stone can be added anywhere inside or outside as a lovely decoration. (It is recommended to add a coat of varnish if planning to keep stone outside in the elements.)

We opted to put ours on our front entryway to add color and splash to our most recent beach treasures!

Our 6-year old grandson painted it and wasn't happy with the final results. It was very hard to keep the paint from dripping down onto the white separators. We ended up adding a black color in between the raised edges and he was much happier with the final project.

We actually used our own paint brushes because he wanted to use the different colors at the same time. It's a cute craft that filled up his afternoon. And, best news! It's something sweet to add to my front entry. Don't forget to have your little one sign and date the bottom!

Careful to note: this is NOT an actual stepping stone. I do not think it would hold up to any weight. It is best to be used as a decoration.

JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, THANKS!

I got this to do with my 5 year old so we can give it to dad (who likes to garden) for Father's Day. My son loved this activity and was super excited about making dad a gift. He spent about an hour making sure he included all of the colors. There are six pastel colors included in this kit, which are easy to mix and match. The kit's paintbrush was cheap and I was scared that bristles would fall out so I let him use some of my brushes and acrylics to complete the butterfly. The time making this with my son is priceless. The gift he will give his dad will last a lifetime. My main issue though is not a stepping stone at all... it is a hollow ceramic piece that is probably better as garden decor or something we can add to our bookshelf. Overall though, it was fun.
