Well Worth It. But Passes lots of Grit Without Paper Filters
Y. C.•August 6, 2018
The Prismo attachement is amazing because it allows you do have SO MUCH control over your Aeropress brewing without having to go the inversion route. Do you want to do a traditional recipe? Done. Do you want to do a 4 minute steep using course grounds? Yup. 24hr cold brew that's gently pressed out? No Problem.
It makes the Aeropress into something more. And I really feel that it's well worth what I paid for it.
But, does it deliver what it promises? Hmm...
I have yet to pull a shot that contains sufficient crema. Nor have I had a shot free of significant grit without using paper filters.
Based on these two things, I have to take off a star. But if you are interested in something that will enhance your aeropress device, then this will do it. Just curb your expectations just slightly.

Didn't produce an espresso-style for me
J. Brechin•July 10, 2018
Great idea, but it just doesn't seem to produce a beverage very different from other methods, and certainly far from anything I would call "espresso-style". It relies on a very new/fresh Aeropress plunger that forms a tight seal, and may simply be reliant on great technique that I haven't mastered yet (I watched a number of YT videos). The filter allowed some fines to pass through, but I chalk that up more to my fairly cheap grinder rather than the quality of the filter.
The build quality is excellent--the pieces fit together as perfectly as you would expect them to. The packaging is simple and minimal. I'm sure there are plenty who love the product, but I'll stick with my inverted method Aeropress brew.

Worthwhile, though a bit pricey.

This is an interesting gadget. It allows you to not have to use inverted method to keep from spilling/leaking which is nice. This is a bonus because with inverted you have to fill then put the lid on tight AFTER stirring when you are time-sensitive. If you added too much water or whatever or got grounds stuck or slick hands, this could cause issues.
With this, you can put the lid on FIRST so no stress.
You may need to adjust your grind though. I tried very fine grind and I couldn't even BUDGE the thing! I dropped down to a medium fine grind and this worked decently.
I set the thing about 2 feet off the ground and push so I can use my body weight to shove and get a full extraction.
I do think that this helps generate a stronger shot, vs normal methods (assuming the same temperature and time).
Kind of pricey for what it is, about as much as the entire aeropress itself, but if you like the aeropress, it is worthwhile.

Makes a good product easier to use

Let's start with a clear statement. This product does nothing, positive or negative, to the flavor of the coffee. Anyone saying otherwise is just having magical thinking moments. It also does nothing to "increase pressure" so far as I can tell.
What it DOES do is pretty great though. It eliminates paper filters, yet also eliminates me throwing away said metal filters by accident. It also lets you do the equivalent of the inverted method without perching the upside down apparatus precariously on your counter where it gets knocked over. It's tight seal between the filter and the aero press eliminates the annoying side jets that escape your cup. Basically it makes a product I like a lot into a better product. Well worth the money.
As to flavor I blind tested it on my wife for a week. No one can tell which cap you made the coffee with.

But it enhances the output of coffee in the AP and with the right beans can come very close to espresso in a way that I believe tastes better than most restaurant/coffee house espressos I've had

This doesn't reach pressure that "espresso" is made at. But it enhances the output of coffee in the AP and with the right beans can come very close to espresso in a way that I believe tastes better than most restaurant/coffee house espressos I've had. I use 40g of fine ground BRCC Murdered Out and 125g water just under boiling. The "crema" that everyone wants in any espresso is produced for me with this recipe. I let it step 1 minute then I press like all get out. As you can see from the photos, the puck retained 24g water so the output is 100g of coffee.
