They are okay. Probably more suited for hand stitching than machine. They break easily on the machine and leave a fine dusting of the cotton. They are thick and would be good for hand stitching, but are really too thick to thread easily through a machine needle. Definitely mostly cotton material. I bought them hoping for inexpensive thread for my machines for teaching sewing classes. I would not purchase again.

I'm pleased with this. Definitely not for machine sewing but I bought these for hand sewing which they work great for. Love the colors-are just as pictured. Very soft fiber but sturdy.
