Edit --- I changed my review to 1 star.. If I could give 0 I would.... This thing is junk, and the thing leaves sharp edges all over, I'm not sure I even received the right opener because of that
if the can is just SLIGHTLY bent, it does not work. Very hard to get it to grip the can,,,,,, And there isn't really a way to turn it off.... I hit the button like 15 times and eventually it turns off....

I forgot to read the reviews before I purchased it. I have gotten it to work on two cans only. I was being patient, figuring I just didn't have the right touch. I had my dad try it but it wouldn't work for him either. Well, it does cut about 1" of the can and stops. Nothing I do gets it going and I end up pulling it off the can. Right now it is sitting on the counter with a lid stuck in it....Update: I am so angry I wasted $30. I threw the stupid thing away.

Ok if you are looking for this to be a miracle worker keep looking. Yes it works, but it's nothing special and it takes a little effort to use. I bought new regular old type can opener that was sharp to compare and it by far out performed this in ease of opening the can... BUT. If you don't want the lid to have sharp edges or fall into your food then this is the opener to go with. I don't know how it does it but there are no sharp edges. It really doesn't look like it would work at all but it does. It takes a little bit more effort but I am using this for sanitary reasons over the conventional opener that touches all the food and lids and how many people think to clean it?

Took a bit to get used to how to load the can lip into the opener. After a few experiences I'm a pro. When the entire revolution is complete release the can by doing a tiny reverse turn on the crank, set the opener aside, with your hand lift off the lid. Easy lift off - zero sharp edges.

Smooth edge on top and side of can. After reading many reviews, I expected some difficulty getting the opener to grab onto the can edge and start the cut. I just placed the opener on top of the can as I would any 'normal' opener, turned the handle and it engaged the can and started cutting. Couldn't be happier. Used it on a small 3 ounce can. No problem. Works on a very large #10 (107 ounce) can.
