This diaper bag backpack has been amazing. I have owned it for about 3 years and it is holding up really well. I have 2 kids and both have/had specific needs that required more than the average space in a bag and boy oh boy did this bag deliver. My oldest has type 1 diabetes and as such we always have his smaller diabetes bag with us(think small lunchbox size bag) along with lots of snacks for low blood glucose levels. My 2nd was failure to thrive at 4 months and on a feeding tube with a feeding pump for about 6 months, I was able to fit all the diapers, wipes, pull-ups burp cloths, extra clothes, extra feeding tube supplies, feeding tube feeds, diabetes bag, snacks, and stuff for myself. Now that we are past the feeding tube stage and onto toddler and little kid stage we can still fit everything comfortably and have more than enough room for everything. I love that I can easily attach it to the cart/stroller and not have to use a giant carabineer to attach it. Definitely will recommend this to everyone I know that is looking for a diaper backpack.
Thoughts and Improvements

Reason why i bought this backpack besides the fact of having a baby was because of color, storage capacity, it had the insulation compartments, it had the ability to add more molle attachments (which i plan to use), and had the padded back support with chest and belt clips. Generally speaking the backpack seems durable and structurally sound as well as comfortable. I have only been using it on and off for about a month (not the backpacks fault) and have yet to put it into the wild for field testing. It does have a large storage compartment which is great. The side pockets have the insulation in them to keep items close which seems to be working. The administrative compartment (the outer most portion) holds a good deal as well. My wife has her own backpack which im comparing this to because i do like this backpack just think there are a couple things missing/that need improvement. It has the basically laptop storage part on the inside that holds the mat. i would prefer the mat in a different location ie in between the back support and the main compartment. Then add a loop inside for hydration bladder (multi function and continued use once the baby grows up). the outer most compartment/admin compartment is not necessarily made to be expanded so the bottom of it is very tight once you pack as much as you can inside of it. The same thing goes for the internal mesh pocket in the main compartment. it would be better if these could be able to expand out instead of being so tight because one compartment is full its hard to get anything inside the mesh pocket. The insulated compartments do hold a plastic water bottle with a small tall ice pack but would be benefecial if it could be a little larger or include a specific ice pack for that compartment. The last food for thought is if the internal main compartment had some organization pouches that either velcro'ed or snapped into place. This would help with the organization of diapers, clothes, swaddles the only trade off with that is that it takes up some space in the main compartment however in the baby years this would be helpful. I gave this four stars because i have not used the product long enough to make a great review and due to the fact there are areas for improvement. If something fails ill post it to this thread. If nothing is posted after this assume this is still working for me.
The Diaper Bag Hunt is Over!

We tried a lot of diaper bags. A LOT. This is the only one that didn't get returned- I'll compare all the bags we tried.
This one (HSD backpack)
Pros: Big bag, backpack style. Useful exterior pockets, and a "drawbridge" style opening for the main compartment. It opens all the way up so you can view the contents like a suitcase- this was the main reason why this bag is a winner. Other backpack style diaper bags things get lost in the bottomless pit of the main compartment since they just zip open halfway. This one opens fully and still has side pockets! There are 2 insulated fully closing bottle pockets.
Cons: Very tactical look. Maybe a pro for you if you're into that styling :) If not, there is a velcro patch that you can purchase "morale badges" for (look them up on Amazon and there are tons of options) to customize the look a bit. The wipe compartment is difficult to load, but it does hold large packs of wipes. Very few pockets in the main compartment. Included changing pad is very thick and takes up a lot of space. We swapped it for the pad that was included with our original diaper bag to free up the main compartment space.
Baby Brezza Lucia
Pros: Very cool 2 compartment design. Medical bag style opening upper and a diaper caddy in the bottom compartment. Nice looking bag, and lots of pockets in the upper main compartment. Fully enclosed insulated bottle pocket.
Cons: When fully loaded, we found the zippers difficult to do up. No easy access wipe pocket, and even though the bottle pocket is sized for 2 bottles we could only fit one while fully loaded.
Bern Diaper Backpack
Pros: Honestly a nice backpack, would have utility after its life as a diaper bag. Decent number of pockets. Cool concept with a larger detachable cooler bag.
Cons: Bottomless pit main compartment, cooler bag covers convenient wipe pocket (which isn't too convenient, the pocket is deep enough that the wipe package opening doesn't line up with the zipper), and no good bottle storage without the detachable cooler
Skip Hop Weekender
Pro: Nice bag, very big! Comes with packing cubes for organization.
Cons: Plastic connection points for shoulder strap (not sure how durable), feels like there aren't enough pockets for organization in the main compartment. No convenient access wipe pocket, and the drawbridge opening doesn't drop fully. It's basically a little suitcase, so only being able to open the suitcase 3/4 isn't my favorite. It's a nice bag, but feels pricey for the features.
Hritok Diaper bag tote
Pros: Good looking bag, good organization pockets
Cons: Not very large at all and insulated pockets are not fully enclosed. Good for if you only carry the essentials. No wipe pocket.
Lekebaby Diaper Bag Tote
Pros: Decent size, super cute! Has a separate bottom compartment. Decent number of interior pockets for organization.
Cons: Very floppy bag that will not stand up on its own unless packed full. Not fully enclosed insulating bottle pockets. Wipe pocket is meh.
Petunia Pickle Bottom Pivot
Pros: Cute style, very nice quality! Very nice conversion from backpack to tote. Separate bottom pocket. Nice insulated bottle pockets.
Cons: No dedicated wipe pocket, main compartment will be bottomless pit. We couldn't justify price for utility, but it is a very cute bag that could be great if you carry essentials and don't mind non-easy access wipes. It's really great quality.
Jujube Dr BFF
Pros: Nice quality, convertible tote/backpack, no bottomless pit.
Cons: No easy access wipes, no fully enclosed insulated bottle pocket.
Fisher Price Kaden
Pros: Good pockets- dedicated bottle pocket and wipe pocket, fully opens to see everything in the main comparment.
Cons: We like to have a all in one diaper change pocket, and the large insulated pocket would have been the one we wanted to use for diapers. Personal preference only- this is a good bag and we almost stuck with it.
Eddie Bauer Cascade (this was our OG diaper bag, the one we had before we started the quest for a better bag)
Pros: Good number of pockets, dedicated wipe pocket, fully enclosed insulated bottle pocket
Cons: Bottomless pit main compartment, difficult to fit two bottles in the insulated bottle pocket. We stored snacks in the exterior flap pocket and it would tip the bag if we didn't have enough in the main compartment.

Bulky but functional
laxgal✓ Verified Purchase•July 12, 2023
A little larger/bulky than I expected. It makes it difficult to fit under my stroller.
It is hard to fit an ice pack and a bottle in the side pockets.
Very sturdy and comfortable.

Great larger diaper bag for longer trips…

I reviewed A LOT of diaper bags and ended up purchasing this one. One, it did not come with any noticeable smell as reviews have indicated. Two, this fits my frame very well (I'm 6'2" with an athletic build). It has a lot of compartments to organize your baby's needs/items. The placement of the diaper wipes is ideal and works better, in my opinion, than a side pocket. It is also larger in size so my wife and I use this bag for longer (weekend) trips and still carry a smaller diaper bag for quick trips out to stores/restaurants.
