This is not really worth the money. Like other reviewers have stated, it needs FULL sun to work. This is fairly impossible for most days. If even a cloud passes over the sun, it stops and starts in fits. I thought the birds would enjoy it, but they are startled by the on and off quality. When it works it is pretty, but it does not consistently work. Plus, the suction cups are tiny and virtually ineffective. The fountain floats and moves around in the birdbath--again, a distraction for the birds. Not my best purchase from Amazon.

I laughed when I opened the box and saw how tiny this was. Will only work when: the sun is really hitting down on it with no shadows what so ever. I think the price I paid was way too much. I would not recommend this unless you have full sun all the time. Pricey for its on again off again way of working. When it is working it is cute but that's about all. Cute does not make me want to buy more.

I purchased this solar fountain pump for our bird bath (may try it floating in our swimming pool when we are out there). It was not hard to assemble because it comes with good directions. It is hard to break apart all the little pieces as they are attached with little pieces of plastic that get thrown away. The plastic is quite durable so it makes this job a little difficult. Once assembled all you need to do is place it in the bird bath. At first, you may only get bursts of water shooting up. After a few minutes of charging in the sun (our bird bath is in direct sun light) you will get a foot high constant stream of water. The pattern of the water changes depending on which head you place on the fountain. When you remove it from the sunlight the motor automatically stops. There are no switches to turn it on and off. This is a really fun addition to our backyard.
