Opening up the bottle there were nice sized pieces of dried jalapenos. I tried one instantly and after crunching it (very crunchy) it had a very nice smoky taste. Shortly afterwards I discovered it was much spicier than I expected with the taste hitting first and a lingering heat following soon afterwards. Some members of my family thought it was far too spicy to be eaten out of the jar which is fine.
This morning I took out three small pieces and mixed them into my eggs. The smoky jalapeno taste permeated the eggs with the spice level firmly dissipated it created a wonderful flavor throughout the eggs. So I'm delighted in the flavor and the fact that I can use this to flavor my other dishes without using a lot at one time.
Great value. For those craving something spicier Jalapeño might not be enough. For me it was. Hats off to the makers of this product. I am only giving it 4/5 stars for Warmth only in that it was a bit spicier than I expected it to be. For some that is an added benefit.

as other reviews have mentioned... traders stopped selling it (for four bucks) so luckily we found this. it lasts for ever for us (because its HOT hah) i put one little rice grain on a piece of sushi, and i love love love it.
