I hadn't had Turkish coffee in ages, and was in the mood to do it up right, with the proper pot and all...
Found several, and went through a lot of descriptions to compare and decide what I wanted.... realized that since I wanted food safe, and not just decorative, it needed to be tin lined. Also decided I wanted something sturdy, so I went for the 2mm thick vs 1mm thick. Also decided on a wooden handle, as opposed to a metal handle, so I didn't get burned picking it up! And I wanted *pretty*, so I wanted a nice engraved one....
After saving lots of listings and then going through the process of elimination, I ended up with this one. And I'm really glad I took the time to shop!
This piece is really beautiful... the engraving is not just surface scratching, it is a nice depth. The finish is amazing, and I know I'll have to get some copper cleaner to keep it this way, as copper oxidizes, but I'm willing to do that.
The tin lining is even and done well, and the wooden handle has some lovely inlay work to dress it up.
This has a good weight to it, it is not flimsy. The size is good, so that I can make enough to serve a guest or two (depending on the size of your cups.... I'll be using the small, traditional ones).
I would not only buy this item again, I would recommend it to my friends...

attractive, large base

An attractive and well proportioned pot. Would work well for coffee, if you have a crowd. Would also be a beautiful serving dish for sauces. The exterior is nicely finished. Has attractive engraving, and is smooth and highly polished. Handle is nicely finished as well with a robust mounting bracket. Unfortunately, actual wooden handle not mounted as robustly to the bracket, nor can it be removed to save space as on some Egyptian models. The wide base makes it more practical to use on typical US ranges than the typical 8 oz coffee pots. The pot's interior is hand tinned.
There are numerous weld/joint lines (under the tinning) on the interior, not visible on the smooth exterior. Looks as though the pot is made by joining together different sections, plating with a thick coat of copper, and then tinning the interior.
Do not expect the thickness to even approach that of "quality" European copperware. The folded rim is maybe 2mm. The body of the pot is maybe 1mm thickness including tinning. You can flex it with your thumb if you push hard. Honestly that's all that is needed for a pot this size, and it saves on weight.
All in all, worth the price and an attractive item.

Beautiful And Finely Crafted

This is a beautiful finely crafted ibrik. I highly recommend it.
You should wash this thoroughly with gentle dish soap and a very soft sponge or foam brush after each use.
Turkish coffee should be heated on "low." On our gas range, I set the dial to 2.5 and wait until some foaming (*not* boiling). This is a large ibrik, so it may take a while.
Ratio:
8 grams fine powdered Turkish coffee
65 grams water
1 small brown natural sugar cube (optional)
You won't be disappointed. Turkish coffee is delicate and made with love. Treat this ibrik similarly and it will last years.

OMG, This is beautiful in every way , from looks to function. Yes, it is handmade which only contributes to it's charm, and you can see that by looking closely at it, but there are no obvious flaws and it works perfectly for heating any liquid. Even gravy. The wooden handle stays nice and cool no matter how hot the pot gets. And there is nothing so beautiful in my kitchen as handmade Turkish little copper heating pots. These are not just for show! They are as practical as you will ever need. I just love when something is beautiful AND useful !! Im jus sayin...
Fantastic for making Turkish Coffee

I use this at home on a small propane camping stove since we are all-electric and the kitchen stove has heating elements that are too large for this; you could use this on an electric stove but you're going to waste a lot of heat, although I suppose you could use a metal trivet maybe. I'm new to Greek/Turkish coffee and I love making coffee in this, and watching for the foam to rise up and scoop out, it makes the whole process fun for me. The inside is coated with tin and cleanup is easy, quick to heat up and the long handle is great, feels firmly attached even though it's a light wood handle.
