Bought two folding ebikes recently and unfortunately they didn't fit in the space reserved for them. So, with a week before the first camping trip we had to scramble to find a suitable carrier that covered all the bases:

Luckily this one was just about the only carrier that met all criteria.

I can find no faults with it, other than one observation. First, understand that this is built to last. It is steel, not aluminum. The engineering is excellent, as is the construction. The packaging and instructions are excellent; bags of parts are lettered and these letters are referenced in the instructions so you don't have to wonder. Good drawings of the assembly process. Made in Taiwan, not China, so English is pretty clear. All necessary tools included. Assembly was fast and easy.

The only mystery at first for me was how to lock the shorter (bottom) bike holder. You don't insert the key and turn it, you just insert it and then turn the knob and it locks. The instructions aren't really clear. I turned it the first time and deformed the key, but was able to reform it by turning it back the opposite way.

Arrived a day before it was supposed to (ordered on Sunday and received on Wednesday). Excellent external packaging and internal blocking.

Looks great and is definitely heavy duty. The anti-wobble mechanism works very well.

Took it on a 400 mile round trip camping adventure over all kinds of roads. It held up great.

Yes, you can tilt it backwards when loaded...see their video! But realize that if you have 120 pounds of bikes on it you have to be strong enough to be able to push it back up. It isn't a hydraulic mechanism; it is a simple notched release and catch operated by a lever.

When loading it, I dropped it back for the inner bike, then once the tires were in the slots I put it back to 90 degrees and finished securing it. The outer bike can be set in without tilting.

The foam-covered bike folders adjust easily and hold the ebike frame well, even tho the bike frame is a fat rectangle (holds the big battery) where they meet.

The velcro straps are more than big enough for 4" fat tires. And they hold amazingly well... the first time I took the outer bike off one velcro strap happened to flop over on itself a little and I could not pull the bike free! Between the bike holders and the velcro your bikes aren't going to move.

The only issue I've seen after the one trip is the foam holders wore through a bit where they met the frame. I'm sure this is because they are rounded and the frame is rectangle. I'm not concerned; the bikes were not damaged, but I am sure over time they would wear through enough to scrape the paint off the bikes. I'm just going to wrap some duct tape around damaged foam and maybe place a old washcloth between the foam and the frame.

Other than that small issue, I highly recommend this carrier!

We assembled this bike rack in about 2 hours. You will probably do it faster. You will definitely want more than the cheap wrench tools they include in the package. A standard crescent wrench and screw driver at a minimum.

The basic configuration is for 2 bikes or 4 bikes. We ordered the extended 4 bike version. Each bike gets two loops - one for the front tire and one for the back. You slide 2 on the inside and 2 on the outside of slide bar. A post goes up between the two bikes and there are two sliding padded loops that go up and down to loop over the horizontal bike tubes. Take a look at my pics.

If you only have 3 bikes (as we do) then you only need to install 6 tire loops so that's why ours looks like it's custom made as a 3 bike carrier but it's really the 4 bike version. We can also remove the two bike extension and go down to a two bike carrier. The whole contraption folds up on the back of our car and extends down and away from the car. I see people asking if you can open a trunk with it installed and loaded with bikes and so on. Yes I'm sure you could. But the rack is heavy even when it's empty. Loaded with bikes you would need to be some kind of superman. Realistically, when it's loaded with 3 or 4 bikes you aren't going to get access to the back of your car.

Some nice features I really like: A key lock for the pin connecting the rack to the car. I can see somebody driving past and just unclipping a rack and tossing bikes and all into the back of a pickup so who knows... this lock might stop a quick snatch and grab. It won't hold up to a hammer and pry bar.

The sliding loops also have a key lock to secure the bikes onto the stand. That will prevent people from easily walking away with your bike but again it's not going to stand up to a determined criminal. I found the padded loop able to slide down far enough to work with a woman's style step-through bike. The rack works fine with our slightly fatter eBike tires. Our eBikes bikes each weigh 45lbs but even so 4 of them still feel solid and well supported on the rack.

There aren't many negatives other than the obvious problems associated with hauling around more than 200lbs of bikes and metal sticking way out from the back of your car. I would say the worst feature is that it's going to be very difficult to remove this rack from the car. The bolt is solidly screwed into the receiver. Removing that bolt is going to be tough because it's the no-slip silicon type. I can see they want to stop rattles and secure the stand to the car. It's just a shame that it's going to be so hard to put it on and take it off. I can already see wear and a bit of rounding on the nut from just tightening it up once. How is it going to look after I've put it on and off 20 times?

One "gotcha" that's specific to my car - I have a feature on my Hyundai Sante Fe. If I loiter around the rear of the car the hatch will beep then open. With my bikes loaded, the hatch would bang into them. That's a feature I can disable and I'll have to remember to do that.

There may be better racks out there once you hit the $500+ range but in the sub $300 range for a heavy duty rack that's able to hold heavier bikes, this is the winner.

Product arrived on time. Well packaged. Assembly instructions reasonably clear, all parts needed were present and even a couple of tools were included, although I prefer my own tools (only a few tools needed). No unfavorable issues arose with assembly of the rack, installation on the vehicle, and installation of the bikes on the rack (two lightweight e-bikes) although I had to tilt the rack back (part of the design) in order to place the inboard bicycle in its mounts due to the presence of the upright post (just too hard to lift the bike over the post - not a big deal). One person can load the bikes, although it is easier with two people (I'm over 70 and not exactly rippling with muscle).
Travel with the rack was uneventful - no wiggling, vibration, or looseness of bikes or parts while we traveled or on arrival. Rack is SOLID, which translates to heavy, but it is so designed that it is not hard to move it around when off the vehicle (can't store it on the vehicle due to minimal garage space so have to remove after each use but would probably remove after use anyway for convenience of access to hatch and potential theft issues - a good hitch lock is included which is a nice touch but thieves can be inventive...).
I would buy this again.

Worked as advertised

Outstanding product in every way - price, packaging, easy assembly, quality of materials, ease in use. My only caution is that, due to its quality construction, it is a little heavy. I am using it on full size SUVs (Ford Expeditions) and it is perfect for these vehicles. I also often use it to carry 4 bikes, but when only carrying 2 it can be easily reduced in size, almost reducing the weight by half. If you are looking for a well-built, sturdy bike carrier this is it. Locks are great, and the anti-wobble in the hitch assembly does the job. I couldn't be more satisfied.
