I tried buying a very expensive system that has a hard bar and fancy grips but this turned out to be better and much cheaper. The one big problem is that the foam won't stay upright on its own since it's just attached by straps without rigidity. This is fine at the back where you can grab it as you insert and line it up. But forward the foam is pretty pointless and it would work just as well with a simple strap. In order to use the foam forward you'd have to get into the car and then line them up and insert them. I just run the rod above the whole thing and it's good. You can't beat the price. I did try just using some hardware straps across my handholds and that worked but you really need something to hold the back end of the rods in place or they slide around, so the foam helps a ton with that. The only problem I have still is that a fighting grip which doesn't narrow at the top won't fit in easily. I may cut out a wider channel. I wish there was a way to attach the rear one farther back than the handholds. I have seen a video where a guy used removable wall hangers on the rear windows to hold a PVC pipe. I could just attach this foam block to a pipe and be able to use the full length of my minivan.
