I have no idea how anyone could gripe about this cup holder. It is simple, clean, and metal(durable).
The clamp may throw some folk off but once you get it on it will stay there.
If your handlebars are of smaller diameter you may need to add some material for the clamp to grab to. Or get bigger bars. The cupholder itself is a nice item and works great.
