My eight year old loves this mermaid tail. It's a great quality and has reinforced plastic-like covers on the end of the tail to protect it from getting scratched up on the bottom of a pool. So far, ours is still in excellent shape after it being used the whole summer, multiple times a week. I think the reinforcing is a new addition as my daughter's friend has an older model that does not have that feature and her's is definitely falling apart on the bottom.
My daughter took to the tail with ease and has never had any issues swimming with it. She loves that she can swim super fast while wearing it. I'd recommend that your child is a strong swimmer before purchasing them this accessory/toy.
She loved all the color and design options and settled on the Betta Blast, which is vibrant and colourful.
After much debate, we settled on the size 10 for our 8 year. She is on the smaller side but we figured if we got a size up, she'd be able to get more years out of it. That was a good move. It is a bit large for her, but not huge, and she will definitely get at least another 2 maybe 3 years of use before needing the next size up.
I would also recommend that you wash and rinse it well and hang it to dry after each use. This has helped keep ours in good shape.
If you're looking to purchase one of these toys, I highly recommend Fin Fun with the reinforced bottom.

This was the highlight of my 8 year old daughter's summer. She had mermaid lessons during a visit to a resort in Orlando and learned how to maneauver in the tail. I had the option of buying a tail after the lesson but declined that she'd ever use it. Two weeks went by and she'd done so much research on this thing, was living and breathing every single moment for this tail. I had to buy it, and I am so happy I did.

1. Its gorgeous. It's absolutely beautiful and vivid.
2. it's high quality. The flipper is more durable than the one she mermaided in during the Orlando trip. The material tail piece has some sort of siliconey/rubbery feel that wont tear up when they bump the sides of the pool.
3. It's safely removed in water. Kick off (and comes with instructions/directions on how to do so.
4. It is youthful. Seriously, its a mermaid tail. It lets little kids stay little kids for a little longer.
5. It's gender-fluid. There are tons of colors for girls who aren't so into pink etc and for boys who are, silvery tails/black/ and tons of colors for folks across any spectrum of mermaidness. I love that.
6. Buy it, seriously. It's pretty awesome.

My daughter loves this fin! However, after seven days of use only in the water it has one small hole in it today and has faded tremendously. For the cost of this product it certainly should be holding up far better. Did you guys send me a quality reject from your factory? My daughter would be so upset if I dare to take this away from her at this point.

My 11 year old daughter bought this with her Christmas money and absolutely loves it. She can't wait to get into the pool with it, but for now, she's perfectly content wearing while she's on the sofa watching her favorite mermaid show on tv.

My daughter got one of these in March and loved it but it does get quite warn out if they scrape it on the bottom of the pool. I see this new version has tail protectors so maybe that will help. Regardless she got her money's worth and has loved it and asked for another one for christmas
