Good, but there is still room for improvement.

This bag is the close but it doesn't quite meet my needs.
First, I love the handles everywhere! That is profoundly useful when you're hopping from planes, to taxis, to trains. You can grip this thing from any angle and get it moved to wherever.
I love how durable this thing is.
I love that it is attractive without being flashy. I dont want bright colors and fancy materials. I dont want a bag that says, "look at me i am full of valuables!" I want a bag that sinks into the background. I travel a lot. Bags wander off or are cut and the only thing the police can say is that it sucks to be you. And it does suck to be you if youre living out a bag that has suddenly found a new owner. So I like that this is brown and just blends into the background.
I love the size. You can live out of this bag for two weeks. I have done it.
I love the straps everywhere on it. I typically keep this set up as a 48hr kit and it's nice to have straps that i can attach a tied and rolled up comforter too. Blankets aren't always available and I never seem to know when theres going to be an emergency and Im going to have to travel out of town and crash on someones floor.
I actually like that the front pocket is hard to get into. I can put things in that pocket and throw a small padlock on that amd hide the lock under the flap. It keeps the contents secure and it hides the fact that you want the contents of that specific pocket secure. Nothing says "steal me" to a thief like a easy to open pocket with a visible lock.
There are some modifications that I will make to this bag. Laptop sleeves are just stupid. They are a pointless advertising gimmick that bag makers put in their bags to show that youre getting a little extra something. The problem is that it is a little extra something where there shouldn't be anything at all. They did kindly construct the bag so that it is easy to remove with a seam ripper. I cut the sleeve out immediately. If i need a sleeve on my laptop, i will put my laptop in a sleeve. Otherwise it is wasted space and wasted weight and having one removes versatility from the bag.
The side pouch is pointless. There is nothing that can be put in that thing. It is canvass and it lies flat against the side of the bag. I'm going to slice that down the middle and install some brown elastic so that i can store a water bottle there.
The waist belt is a bit... short... like a lot short... I could lose a 100lbs and not fit that thing. At some point I will extend it.
My final complaint is with the zipper. If the main zip went all the way around, like a clamshell, this would be the best bag ever. The side zip doesnt quite open enough to get things in and out smoothly. I will take the bag to a local luggage repair company and see if they can modify the bag to have a zipper all the way around.
Is it the best bag on the market as of the writing of this review? I think so... But there is a lot of room for improvement. The bag market is flooded by bag makers who, apparently, have never traveled, never lived out of a bag, and possibly never even used one. Witzman does give me a little hope though. If any bag manufacturer reads this and wants more details on what travelers actually need from a bag, feel free to reach out. I can help design the perfect set of travel bags.

An awesome shoulder bag/back pack!

This really is an awesome bag. Here are the pros and cons:
1. It is a great size. The 21 inch bag is big enough to fit all sorts of things in it but not too big as to make it bulky and difficult to carry around.
2. The various zippers and straps allow you to open and close the bag to make it into the size you need. I got this for my husband and he puts his gym clothes in there. The problem he usually has is that his shoes are a size 14 and never fit in anything. He has no problems with this bag. The side zippers open up to make it deep enough to fit in not only the shoes but also his other clothes. The length is long enough to allow almost any size shoe in there. Even Shaq could carry around his shoes in here!
3. I LOVE that you can use it as a backpack OR as a shoulder bag, your choice. That option is a great option in my opinion.
4. I like the look and feel of it. The canvas is nice and thick. The PU parts make it look luxurious and are a very nice and soft PU. I got the one in brown and I love the color.
5. It has more than enough little compartments and zippers.
Cons:
I truly can't think of any. This is a great shoulder bag/back pack. You really can't ask for anything more.

I purchased this bag as a personal carry on. The size is ideal. I needed a backpack that was as close to the maximum allowable for the personal carry on (18"x14"x8") dimensions and also had a carry strap option to be carried like a duffel bag. There are simply not very many options for this combo. I need the duffel bag shoulder carry option for the airport and at the destination I use the backpack option as a daypack. This bag checks all the boxes. It looks good enough as well. There was some thought put into this bag and I appreciate these items. 5 stars (assuming it will last some years.) Some suggestions in order of importance.
1) Get rid of the velcro that secures the flap to the top in backback mode. My experience is velcro fails over time by just wearing out or detaching. It also looks somewhat tacky on the bag in duffel bag mode. Surely there is a small buckle system that can be a more resilient, more attractive option as opposed to velcro. This is the weakest link functionally with the bag.
2) Get rid of the fake leather. Two problems with it. One is that it's fake leather. Secondly, due to it's thickess and horseshoe shape, it makes securing the zipper difficult. Hopefully, it will get better as it breaks in. Just use the same material as the rest of the bag in place of the fake leather--perhaps a contrasting color would be nice. the compartment will be easier to access with better zipper action because of a more pliable material in place of the fake leather.
3) Consider an elastic water bottle holder which is more functional and secure than a fixed pocket. Also and elastic strap over the water bottle holder would allow for a water bottle to be secured in duffel bag mode in which the water bottle is on the underside.
If I think of anything else, I will update this review.

bag is great!!! I packed way way way more then expected in it (used as carry-on ) but I can easily pack 100 lbs in here so I have to watch how much I pack hahaha I think there was a larger and smaller size of this bag but this thing is huge yet easy to carry
easy to carry as backpack or shoulder case , I carry a 15" laptop but could easily carry much larger my laptop disappears in slot
CONS: only neg I can think of is there is NO padding between laptop and you back , when you put on airport scanned you have to remember to face laptop on top so there not on the rollers. it is a shame the manufacture doesn't offer some padding for it but I am thinking about ordering a piece of soft body armor to put in bag under laptop for future trips
