worth every penny!!!! The scanner is fast, captures both sides, multiple pages, able to rotate individual pages, easy to save. Able to scan papers and business cards. Convenient, I take my scanner to client meetings.

Our use for this scanner is to convert newsprint and magazine content not generally available online into documents we can share across teams. Usually power is available, but the PS for this Epson scanner gives you a battery option.

Getting a wireless scanner set up can be difficult, but Epson's visuals and setup wizards as are good as anything I've seen, and they are built into the installation software itself - which works best, at least when the setup doesn't die first. Nice work. You get the scanner set up first under your 2.4ghz wireless SSID, then the Epson software will discover the scanner using an SSID and password that is on a scanner on the bottom of the scanner. It works fine unless you have a 5ghz default; in that case you have to force your network to return to a 2.4ghz SSID in order to see the new scanner on your WiFi.

The device name registered to our network had a different name (as shown by Fing) than the scanner itself: EPSON43E325. It's a manufacturer name plus part of the SN (which incidentally was not accepted by the online registration wizard). No big deal, but be aware for security audits.

In practice the Windows scanner online-offline message saying the scanner is available bounces on and off, so you probably won't leave the scanner on long.

Scanning to routine PDF settings for magazine scans was easy and fast -- extremely readable. That's the main use case for this device. There are other uses, though. Using Epson Scan 2, the scanner was set to 1200 dpi and scanned a magazine color photo from an 8 x 11 page in Better Homes and Garden. The attached photo is maybe 1/8th of the page cropped to the dog. It's quite good, but of course, much slower than the default for the normal use case. This demo image was created scanning in TIF and converted to PNG using a Windows open source image editor.

In setting the scanner up, there's a fair around of software to download, so if you're using the WiFi option, as we did during Windows 10 setup, the battery can deplete before you finish setup. It turned out all right for us, but it's a kinda risky venture depending on when the battery dies.

CON I was never able to get the Twain driver to become visible after installing the software bundle -- which included Nuance PDF, Epson Scan 2 and SmartScan. I couldn't find a standalone driver on the website. Expect the usual hassle with 5ghz wireless if you're using that frequency. The scanner won't be discoverable.

It's a little on the heavy side for a purse, but if well protected, it's no problem in luggage.

A USB interface is available but not yet tested. Wireless seems like the best use of this device.

I love the size of this scanner. This is the main reason I purchased this scanner, the size. It takes very good scans. I have flat bed scanners and this takes just as good images. The ES-300 comes with very easy to use basic software. Yet, I purchased the WR version as it came with the $100 accounting software. But I am having difficulties understanding how to get the information into Quicken, even though Quicken is one of the supported options. I wish epson would make a video on how to use this software. The ScanSmart software does locate the name of the store, the date of purchase and the amount spent. It looks great. Now if I could just get it to go into Quicken. I will need to contact epson support. But so far my contact with epson has not been great.
I have been very happy with Aidan and Little Prince for their attentiveness and willingness to pursue information that epson.com gave me about my purchase. This company has made me feel that the time i will need to fully understand my purchase's ability will be worth it. They care that I am happy with my purchase.
