Great Bang-for-the-buck

For the money this seems like a great little camera system! I installed it on our camper and the range is great, plus it makes a huge difference being able to see behind me again.
The only thing I would change is larger wire going to the camera. The wires are a bit small and a bigger guage would make it easier to splice. Other than that it works well for what I need it to.

Decent camera, held up for about 22 months

What I liked: easy install and use. Kit comes with all you need to get started. Great connectivity on back of rig. And finally, price point. What I didn't like: magnetic mount doesn't hold display very well. The night time IR lights come on when not in use so you'll need a switch to kill power. After 22 months the unit now gets condensation on the lens and isn't really usable. I probably will give another brand a try this time but overall this worked for me when it was functional. Give them a try if you need a budget option but proceed with caution if your going to be in humidity for prolonged times.
Easy to use wireless backup camera System

DoHonest HD Digital Wireless Backup Camera System 5 inch TFT Monitor kit.
I have been using DoHonest wireless and wired cameras for about six months on my KZ 34ft 5th wheel trailer and Ram Truck. We use our 5th wheel trailer for family camping trips and travel 1-2 times a month. We are not full time RVer's however most of our trips are easily over 100 miles each way and include interstate, Hwy and rural road travel. Having a rear view camera when pulling a large trailer makes traveling more enjoyable.
This is my third DoHonest camera system. I now have three different styles of the DoHonest camera systems in use. The first is the wireless Dohonest FHD 1080P Digital Wireless Backup Camera and 7" DVR Monitor system with support for dual or quad screens. This camera works well, however it does have a slight video lag and can sometimes skips or freezes at higher Hwy speeds. I still think the camera works well and I still have it installed on my 5th wheel. It works perfectly with lower speeds and backing up the trailer. Night vision is also very good.
The second DoHonest camera is a hard wired version, DoHonest AHD 1080P Backup Camera System 7" TFT Monitor high speed observation kit. I installed this camera on the 5th wheel and since is not a wireless system it does not have any video lag. The performance is extremely good. Night vision is very good. This system however takes much longer to install, due to having to run the wiring to the back of the RV and in your vehicle if you want a permanent installation. When hooking up to your trailer, it does add an extra connection to hook up the camera.
I am now using the Digital Wireless version with 720P resolution in order to compare the performance. I will be comparing this camera's wireless ability to to both the wired and wireless DoHonest camera systems before installing it on my older truck. My older truck does not have a backup camera.
Installation:
Camera mounting and wiring:
The camera came well packaged and with all the components needed to install the the system. Installation is very easy and straight forward.
I removed the tail light on my 5th wheel and wired in the camera wires to the trailer running lights. When we travel and my truck is hooked up the the trailer, I just turn on the lights to power on the camera. (Tip: If you need to turn on your 5th wheel lights and your trailer has a 12v battery system, use a 15a fuse across the top two poles on the 7 way connector. This will back feed the 12v power to the trailer running lights.)
I mounted the wireless camera to my second from the top RV ladder rung and ran the power wires on the back side of the ladder hand rail with zip ties. This camera is much smaller and has metal mounting bracket. It is designed to be mounted to your license plate, bumper etc. This camera also has an antenna that is permanently mounted to the camera. It is about 12" long. I have temporarily mounted the camera with a ladder rung mount screw. The antenna I used a thin strip of duct tape and temporarily mounted the antenna to the back underside of the ladder step. My intention is to test this system performance with the trailer and then move it to my older truck.
Monitor mounting:
This monitor has two mounts, a dash mount and a windshield mount. I use the windshield mount. Just a note: This is not one of cheap suction cup mounts. This one has a ring of softer rubber that really seals and holds it against the windshield providing a solid mount. I have a GPS and the suction cup mount for it constantly falls off even when using soap... Just clean your windshield well and then mount the suction cup. For the monitor the mount has a magnetic plate allowing the monitor to be easily removed and leave the suction cup base to stay installed. The monitors on the two other camera systems I have use seven inch monitors. Using a seven monitor can take up a significant amount of space and might block some of the windshield. This system uses a 5' monitor and provides a nice size view.
Wiring the monitor:
The kit includes two ways to wire the monitor, with a 12v power port mount with a nice on / off switch and also a hard wire cable. I used the power port mount which makes this easy to remove the monitor to store it. I also wanted to point out the power port plug also has a USB type A port allowing for charging your phone or accessory.
Smart Cable:
This system comes with a smart cable switch allowing the camera to be paired, turn backup guidelines on and off, adjustment of backup guideline (up, down, inclination and width).
Using the camera system:
After installing this system on the 5th wheel at the RV storage facility. I did a signal distance test and drove several hundred feet away and still had a clear signal, this was with the 5th wheel under a metal awning. Driving with the camera and monitor is nice and worked well. I had a nice clear picture while driving. Backing up this system works really well. I was able to see where I was backing into very easily.
I have not had a chance to test this system while driving at night or backing up at night. I will be updating this review with pictures a video and more information on its performance as I use it over the next few weeks.

I purchased a Do Honest Wireless Backup Camera Model V25, which Amazon calls a HD 1080P 5" Split Screen Monitor System for Truck/Car/Camper/Small RV Bluetooth Rear View Cam 2.4G Stable Digital Signal Two Channels Night Vision Waterproof V25. The car/Truck camera was installed on my 2008 Chevrolet Silverado HD3500 Long bed dually. Do Honest owner's manual stated, "you can choose one of these additional cameras for free: A. An RV Camera, or B. A Car Truck License Plate camera. I chose the RV camera to mount on my 2009 Keystone MONTANA 35' fifth wheel [44 1/2 feet measured from the RV camera mount to front windshield display, although my emails below estimated 16 meters], to assist when backing it onto a tandem axle 20" aluminum fishing boat {yes, this is a legal tow with a Class A Tandem Trailer endorsement]. They both work as advertised, and allow backing onto the associated trailer hitch a breeze. I mounted the car/truck camera offset from the center, which took some getting used to after I adjusted the image to mirror "“ or the backwards "F" symbol "“ this was well thought out!
I mounted the RV camera ***at the top of the RV *** thinking the RV signal might encounter less interference than penetrating the steel undercarriage of a 35' fifth wheel. Works great, although MY mounting the camera 100 inches directly above the ball made the ball mighty small to see and line up on, compared to the car/truck camera. [I actually had to [polish the dark tarnished stainless steel hitch ball so that I could view it against the black tarmac I was testing this rig on!!] With this rig, we enjoy waterfront property wherever we go and with both these cameras, I get a perfect hookup usually on the first or sometimes the second approach! This will save my marriage!! [Actually, she's a doll"”my high school sweetheart "“ and now the Worlds' Best OMA to our 5 grandchildren, but she couldn't offer RV backup directions worth a darn!!].
What came in the initial package: (1) Monitor, (2) Monitor Mounting Bracket, (3) Car/truck camera, (4) cigarette lighter adapter, (5) green connector, (6) 2 power cords, (7) two T-Taps in-line wire easy splice, and (8) camera antenna.
What came with the requested RV camera was (1) Heavy duty RV camera in a forged metal housing, attached by 4 stainless steel hex drive screws but with ferrous metal, zinc coated washer and lock washers, (2) power cord, (3) two T-Taps in-line wire easy splice, (4) a hex key tool to adjust (1) above, and (5) two ferrous metal, black painted screws to affix the black RV camera to the coach. The silver colored hex drive screws affixing the RV camera onto its ferrous metal mount are 316 grade stainless steel]
Notice in the e-mails listed below, when I first warned of 16-meter space between the windshield mount and the rear camera, Willy first answered, "your camera is too far away from the display, and the signal may not be connected," but subsequently answered without any additional facts/information, "our product can meet your requirements. The signal may have some impact, but that's not a big problem." 44 ½ feet and the picture is perfectly fine. Picture presents about 3-4 seconds after power is applied [so if you wire it to your back-up lights, be prepared to wait these few seconds before backing!]
I'm writing all this on the maiden voyage of these back-up camera. I'll give a year or two and follow up with more details, such as how the ferrous metal weathered in California's near coastal climate of Silicon Valley.
The additional note that took me by surprise: Below the offer of 2 additional camera choices, as though it was a separate item, the owner/installation manual stated;
"(2) Buy one get another for you or your family/friends. Receive the below monitor/camera system for a family member or a friend" with a picture of the V25 monitor and some indiscernible accessories alongside it. AND"¦ Just below that offer read;
"(3) Cigarette Lighter Power Splitter. This Cigarette lighter adapter has 2 power supplies and 2 USB power ports. It also displays the voltage." Then there was yet another offer:
"(4) An OBD2 Scanner for Car Diagnostics Code Reader. A useful unit to add to our toolkit to diagnose your car engine's error codes," and if that isn't yet enough, they stated even an ***additional*** offer,
"(5) In order to promote DoHonest brand, if none of the above items are what you want, we can provide $25 Amazon Gift Card."
I called the customer service number upon receipt of the first package, asking what camera might be best to affix to the back of the RV. The gal said my questions were beyond her purview, but would forward the questions to their Technical Representative, who did answer in a timely manner. I could tell I was texting with another country, but they did a stand up job of trying to answer my every query. Their responses to whether this camera would work or not with a 35' fifth wheel varied from, "Your camera is too far away from the display, and the signal may not be connected." To "Our product can meet your requirements. The signal may have some impact, but that's not a big problem." Turns out, it's working fantastically without any impact, distortion or signal interference/interruption. So far, 1 month into it, I highly recommend it! I'll let you know in a year or two if that's still the case! This is the first online review I've ever posted, and done so because upon sending the second gratuitous camera, they asked for a posted, written review.
