Never did become totally flat. We still have ripples on the sides after a month of it laying flat. Tried letting the sun warm it on flat cement, placing weights on the high spots - nothing has worked. And after a month of use its considerably less slick. Disappointed for sure.

Went with the XL for my three sons.
I also bought them the hockey buddy. The kids like it and are shooting on it everyday. The XL is big enough for pass then shoot drills. I let the boys take over the garage. Wife's not real happy with me but I don't mind sleeping on the couch:)

I coach hockey. We use this mat for dry land practice. It does a good job providing a shooting surface. It is fairly slippery but I would rather have this than a "grippier" material. As far as portability, I think this is more of a set and forget sort of thing. It is bulky and difficult to roll-up
