Great great little radio. Good looking design and all of the controls have a nice solid quality feel. Nice "wood" cabinet. Both AM and FM reception are good and the sound quality is great with just the right amount of bass. Easy connected to bluetooth with no issues or drops. Plugged it in to an external outlet that runs to an AM transmitter to broadcast to old AM radios. No hum with great sound quality. (Several other radios and bluetooth receivers produced a hum when paired to my transmitter). My only negative is no tone control. Overall considering everything, exceeded my expectations for the price. Definitely do not regret my purchase.

This appears to be a very high quality "radio". I keep stressing the radio part, because that's all it is, a radio. If you're a real sound guy (or gal) you may not be satisfied with this. It is not stereo, it does not have pre-sets & it does not have window shaking, booming bass.
All that said, this is NOT a negative review. Quite the contrary. The overall retro style is beautiful. The real wood case is beautiful. The dials are simplistic, kinda like a "radio". The sound is nice,, as nice as could be expected for a "radio", and definitely better than any table-top radio I have ever had. The tuner locks in stations pretty well and even has an indicator light for that purpose. The Bluetooth is definitely a nice feature and works well. I'm just an old guy that wanted a high quality old style radio, and this fits the bill perfectly. Seriously, whatever your age, you will likely love both the looks & performance of this "radio". I have zero regrets.

I think I voided my warranty! We wanted to replace an old GE Spacemaker Radio/TV/Clock unit that was starting to not work well anymore. I found this Sangean radio and thought I could take it apart and adapt it to mount under the cabinet where the GE radio was. Took about 2 hours to do the whole thing from start to finish.
When I first disassembled the radio is when I discovered that the case is not wood - it is MDF with a super thin wood veneer on it. If you want to call that wood - OK - but that's not my definition of wood so that was disappointing.
Once disassembled, I removed the old radio and clamped this one into place and drilled 4 holes through the cabinet into the radio case. I marked the holes first based on the electronics inside the radio in order that there would be no obstruction of anything.
I glued the bolts into the radio case from the inside with epoxy and let that dry. Then the rest was simple - put the radio back together and just install into the cabinet. I did use the external FM radio antenna as it did work better for me.
When I turned it on, my wife was super impressed - "that sounds 100x better than the old one!". I connected her phone for the bluetooth and she was immediately streaming her Amazon music through the radio.
Great little radio and with a little work - you can mount it under a counter !

The Sangean WR-16SE radio has exceeded all of my expectations. I purchased this radio for my shop, a 30ft by 40 ft steel quonset hut style building. Steel walls and ceiling aluminum cladded overhead door and no windows or other openings. At the time that I ordered the radio I also ordered an outdoor antenna as I expected no reception inside. When I received the radio I plugged it in not expecting to receive any signal, much to my surprise I was able to receive as good or better reception that my truck radio does outside. The signal lock is solid and doesn't drift or fade.

My only negative comment is as other reviews have said a little excess bass boost. The bass is not enough to be annoying particularly with rock music but if you tend toward the classics high frequencies are washed over. A switch to turn the bass down would be a nice addition.

This radio has been assembled with quality. The radio looks great. It definitely does not have a cheap look to it. The small speaker on the radio is quite loud, is strong and projects the sound well, comes out crystal clear with the right amount of bass. The radio reception is very good. The Bluetooth connectivity works well without any issues. Like I said before, overall an excellent radio. I would definitely purchase this radio again.
