I thought I was gonna get into jumping rope for weight loss and was told to get an actual weighted rope. The thing is I hadn't jumped since Before I was 20 ! Smh this thang tow me up ! I'm talking about my legs , feet , arms and everything .. plus I'm short (5'3) so I guess I need to actually cut the rope down to size but I didn't want to do that because my husband can use it perfectly fine at it most adjusted length and he's 5'9 or 10 .. so if you are a beginner use at your own discretion.
i love this rope

i already had the n1fit 1 pound rope and it was a favorite. the rope really rotates in the handles well and so the rope remains untangled when doing various tricks.
i bought this rope based hoping it would be the same (just a bit heavier) and it's perfect. would recommend if you're looking for a great thicker rope.

Challenge from the start but gets my cardio going quick!

This is the first jump rope I have owned where the weight was in the rope opposed to the handles. It kicked my butt! I couldn't believe the effort I needed to put into a few jumps. I hit myself in the calf a few times and it hurt! I put it down for a few weeks and thought I wasn't ready for it. I got back with it during the pandemic and didn't give up. I can jump with the red 1.5 pound rope for about five minutes and get my cardio up quick. I also use the gray 1 pound jump rope of the same brand for more speed and reps and I am getting a great workout. My forearms are burning afterwards. My grip seems to get stronger by the day. I can jump longer, higher and with less effort after 3 or 4 weeks. Forget the gym membership and the home treadmill just jump rope. You'll be surprise what five or ten minutes of jumping with a heavy rope will do.
Awesome addition to my fitness arsenal

I started with a speed rope, graduated to a boxer style cable rope and then decided I needed a weighted rope or two. I'd already set up the "perfect" spot to jump in that I have a horse mat I used to cushion my knees and the rope. Like another reviewer, I'm not in the prime of my youth any more so I need to consider these things. My first efforts with both ropes were enough to convince me I'd bought well even though the work itself bested me. In just a week I've been able to double the number of consecutive "run in place"/alternating leg jumps I can do consistently because these ropes slow the arc of the rope down enough that my legs can keep up.
The handles are thicker than some of the alternatives and there's no "hinge", per se. These handles are thick and padded. I've had to hold onto the handles tighter and that activates even more muscles. All the various jump rope "experts" out there have too many opinions to count. Personally, I like the firm grip work. It's exercise. The more muscles it works, the better in my opinion. I've used kettlebells extensively for more than 15 years and these ropes work the forearms similar to kettlebells.
I haven't had the ropes that long, but I can tell I'm gonna be thrilled with the purchase.

Handle is plastic, so be careful

I am purchasing another one of these because I did like it. However, the handle is designed to allow you to resize the rope. This means that it comes unscrewed pretty easily. If you do not secure it (i.e. glue it down), it will come unscrewed. This ended up being the death of my original rope.
However, I still really liked using it. It is heavy so it gives me a good, challenging workout. I typically use a speed rope in between sets when I lift but it was starting to become too easy so I wanted more of a challenge. The rope itself is durable (although don't jump without shoes cause you might catch your toes on it it it hurts like heck). I actually bought two sizes this time. This one and the smaller size. This one proved to be a bit too high of a step up right away from my speed rope so I bought the lighter, gray one as well to work my way up to the red.
