Edit: At the suggestion found on a forum: I reset my dashcam and updated the firmware. Now the button has worked every time I've tried it. Lots of screwing around for something that should have worked from the beginning. But it works! It's a bit slow. I think it has to pair, then send the signal. The image saved may be a bit after you wanted it. I use it mostly for taking stationary photos, so it's fine.
I loved the idea of having a remote button to save video and photos. I'll never understand why they used something as unreliable as Bluetooth with this. Seems the button only works maybe half of the time. Of course it loses connection every time the car is turned off, and it has to be re-paired seemingly at random. Thankfully, I haven't "needed" it so far. I've had my dashcam for about 4 months and I've been on the verge of chucking the button out the window just from testing to see if it works. Wish they had used the tech in my 20 year old key fob that works EVERY time. The button is a nice feature but make sure you know how to save the video without it in an emergency.
