Title:

I love this warm sounding amp

I have never written a review for anything I have purchased until now. I love this little amp so much I just had to say something. I purchased this amp based on the reviews and I am sure glad I did. The amp was a snap to setup because all you have to do is pull it out of the box, connect the speaker cables and plug it in. The amp's BlueTooth is amazing! I live in a 1200 square foot house so space is a consideration for me. I can go to any room in my house and my phone remains connected. The sound is amazing, truely a warm comforting tone that pairs perfectly with a nice glass of red wine and the sunset. I don't know a ton about how to fix amp's if they break so I took the recommendation from the other review and reached out to both sellers who sell this amp on Amazon. NewSong responded immediately and with a lot more information than I was expecting. The other seller never even had the courtesy of responding to me. After conversing with NewSong I know if I ever have any problems they will stand behind their products and will be there to help me. This amp is beautiful, the sound and quality of this amp along with the service from NewSong tipped the scales for me. Buy it, you will love it!
This was honestly a BIG Shocker! Truly amazing...

Okay, first off, being an Amazon Prime customer for over 10 years now I always check the reviews very carefully to see if I feel they are genuine. I promise you this the real deal 😊 : )

I have been pretending to be an Audiophile for over 40 years now. I've never been able to spend silly money on it, but over time I've been able to put together a pretty decent resolving system. I had bought a used Ayon Orion II Class 'A' all tube amp, which was way nicer than I thought I'd ever be able to have. Well, it began acting up here in the last few months, so I wanted to get an inexpensive amp to get me by until I get around to dragging this 90 pound beast somewhere to get it fixed.

I read numerous reviews about this tube integrated amp and I was quite surprised at how good the reviews were, even from very reliable sites like Positive Feedback! So, I trepidatiously thought I'd give this one a try. It is clearly affordable (less than 1/10 of what my Ayon cost new about 12 years ago!) and obviously I was not expecting very much at all, especially compared to what this was temporarily replacing. I got it all set up today with my also surprisingly excellent Fluance RT-85 turntable and my also very good but reasonably priced SMSL DO200 DAC. WOW! Seriously... This amp has been going now for about 7 hours or so (they say it takes an astonishing 480 hours to break in!!) and this little beauty is sounding very, very good! No, it clearly doesn't have the ultra refinement of the Ayon, but WOW again! Tonally and especially the imaging on my system is beyond amazing.

Now, one thing that is very important is that I am NOT using it to run the low end. I have it biamped since it has the absolutely vital 'Pre-Out' that I need to do that, and I am running my 2-15" dipole woofers with a Crown 2502 bridged at supposedly somewhere around 1500 - 2000 watts a side! So, that handles the low end. BUT... I am driving my tall line-arrays with this little amp. I am truly shocked that not only is the 25 wpc enough, but again, I can't state emphatically enough that the tonality and imaging are WAY beyond anything I would have ever expected. My system is specifically set up to enhance a very large soundstage. Each tower that runs the highs has 13 drivers a side 😊 They are wired in such a way where the ohmage is balanced, probably somewhere around roughly 6 ohms. And... well, just WOW... I know I am repeating myself, but there you go...

I had honestly fully expected to be disappointed and pretty much figured I would be returning it at some point. But, not now! As a matter of fact, I just also bought an additional 3 year protection plan from Asurion here 😠Because I DO indeed plan on keeping it as long as it takes me to drag that other beastie to a repair shop. I was looking at other amps around $1500 - $2000, figuring I would just put it on a charge card. But, now that I have this little beauty, as long as it keeps doing the amazing thing it is doing, I have absolutely NO plans to get anything else in the meantime.

So yeah... I guess you would have easily guessed by now that I would indeed highly recommend this for just about any application. Because if it runs my two tall line arrays and I can biamp it with my powerful Crown to run the lows, yep it will absolutely do!
One of the more interesting audiophile products out there....

This is the first review for Amazon I have felt compelled to write. I purchased this amp because of a problem I had with my McIntosh C31-V pre-amp. (Yes, you audio lovers out there, even McIntosh has its issues sometimes!)

I am using this as a headphone pre-amp, and I purchased it through New Song after several people mentioned that Connie, in particular, was amazingly responsive to their needs. It arrived in a flash, and I was amazed at the sound it produced, aside from being a mesmerizing piece of equipment, mostly because of the "magic eye" 6E2.

At the age of 74, I won't get involved with issues pertaining to how my ears respond to tube "warmth", but as a Professor Emeritus of Physics, I will say that this is an impressive piece of electronics. You've probably heard that tube amps don't work well with high impedance cans, but I can (no pun intended) assure you, that at least with the 'phones I've listened with, this little jewel is up for the task. Specifically, I have used the amp, so far, with Beyerdynamic 770's (80 Ohms) , AKG 240M's (55 Ohms) and an old pair of AKG 240M's (600 Ohms) purchased from Crazy Eddie (remember Crazy Eddie? His prices were....fill in the blank!) These latter were my "go to" phones for a long time. I must say that I was quite surprised when the high impedance AKG's sounded just as loud as the same volume setting as the 55 Ohm pair. I'm sure that has to do with the sensitivity of each, but nonetheless, it was very encouraging. And ok, at 74 (I can hear you say), I might not be the best judge of sound level, but as a physicist, I know my dB's, and these were within 3 dB of each other. And the Dared wasn't even cranking.

And ok, so I listen to classical music mostly (although I like Led Zeppelin and Queen. Hey! I'm a child of the 60's, right?), so I won't comment on ear splitting capabilities of the amp. But what surprised me the most was the difference between the 770's and the 240M's. The Beyerdynamic cans were shockingly superior. But the biggest shock was that I COULD HEAR A DIFFERENCE at all.

So there you have it. But a big plus is that there is a real human being at the other end. Connie graciously and happily responded to my requests for technical information. In this day and age, that seems to me to be worth its weight in (gold? vacuum tubes? what?).

Other people have commented on how beautiful this amp is, so I won't go into it here. But it's heavy (always a good sign in an amplifier), and the build quality shines through. Just enjoy it. And know that if you have a question, or problem, Connie is there.
Wonderful amp, slight design flaw

I've had this amp for about two weeks. It's awesome. Looks great, sounds great and can drive two speakers and a sub with ease. It has great clarity especially with classical music and jazz. I've tested it with extreme metal and plenty of electronics music as well and it holds up. Looks great and sounds great with a nice compact design. I definitely recommend it. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because it arrived with slight damage on the top where the tube cage meets the chassis. I think there needs to be more care when fastening the cage onto the body of the amp. Besides that, newsong has great customer service and the amp is awesome. Definitely recommend
Punches way above it's pay grade

I'm using this as a desk amp with bookshelf speakers and the MP-5BT definitely delivers! I'm driving a pair of Klipsch Reference R-41M's using a tablet and Tidal Hi Fidelity streaming in a small/medium size room. Based on the specs, I wouldn't use this am with much larger speakers or a larger room. In this case, there is more than enough power and the sound is crisp and clear. I've tested classical, jazz, electronic and ambient. All genres sound fantastic. I have also tested with my E-MU Wood Series, closed back, over ear headphones and I'm very impressed with the quality. The bluetooth connection is seamless which was the one thing I was worried about. I was considering a handful of other Integrated tube amps ranging in price from $250 to $1300 and I am VERY happy with this purchase. If you're on the fence and your needs are similar, take the plunge. I replaced a vintage Pioneer integrated amp and it's a noticeable upgrade.
