It's a bunch of MSG. pretty large crystals, tastes like MSG, it's cheap. I picked up a $1 salt shaker from the grocery store and it stays by the stove. you'd be surprised what it improves when you keep it close at hand like that. makes any sauce much better. My wife doesn't like mushrooms, but whenever I get a feeling that the savory contributions of mushrooms would be nice, that's my sign that MSG would be a good thing to add. I use about half as much MSG as I would use salt as a guide for how much to add.
