We don't use them as torches in our yard. My husband takes the solar unit out and places them in antique kerosene lanterns. They last a long long time.

I ordered 6 of these Tiki torches to put around my backyard fire pit and they look really nice! They stay lite most of the night and the flicker affect looks really cool. It was really nice not having to run wire to hook these up and I also like the fact that you can adjust the height of these by using 0, 1, 2, or 3 poles when setting them up. The 2 issues I have with these are that 4 out of 6 of these torches I received had old corroded batteries in them and didnt work. I had to order 8 new batteries (2 per torch) to replace the bad ones and then I had to clean out all of the corrosive battery gunk from the metal terminals with Vinegar. Since then they have worked perfectly. The other issue which is fairly minor is that the poles are made of plastic and can be a little wobbly at times and sway in the wind a little, also when mowing I bumped one with the front of the mower and it cracked the plastic pole. This is a fairly minor issue for me though. For the price they are really nice and add a great ambiance to our backyard.

I love the look of these torches, and they seem pretty durable for the price. Also, they're extra long, so they're perfect for balcony banisters or for placing among tall shrubs. My ONLY issue is the brightness. They're great for decor, but I wouldnt use them for 'lighting' (ie: walkways, etc...) because they just arent bright enough for that. As for lasting quality, I dont know yet, but Ive had them for a month now and they still work as promised.
I would definitely recommend them, but if you see them, order them! They sell out pretty quickly.

My only complaint about these Tiki torches is that they do not actually produce any ambient light. They look great flickering away but they will not provide ANY light what so ever to the surrounding area. One of the things I loved about real Tiki torches is that the flame actually produced a fair amount of light to the surrounding areas (I think it might be a man thing to have fire producing light) and if that is what you are wanting, These will not provide that. Other than that, they do look very nice just sitting there flickering away. They do not last me all night, probably only around 3-5 hours worth but thats due to where I have them, as there is some shade in that area so its not getting full sunlight all day long. When I first got them, they were already mostly charged and what little bit of time they spent outside in the sun, they did actually last all night long, so I know they can do it, its just my placement of them that is causing them not to be able to work all night long.

One other minor issue I had with one of them was the step to push them into the ground, One of those broke off on me when I was pushing it into the ground. The other 3 made it fine, so I don't know if I just pushed to hard on that one or what. Still love them though.

The media could not be loaded. If this matters to you~The solar torch cover shade isn't clear, it's solid white- not transparent. For me personally, I wish the flame area had a clear lens. If you really pay attention to how the solar flame flickers it does have that digital flame pattern so for the price I'd expect more of the "realistic candle flame" feature but overall these are pretty good and doable.
Lastly, I ordered black and received chocolate torches. Make sure you choose the right color torch when ordering even though I know I ordered correctly.
