They do the job, but the bag is useless, and storage is a problem.

I bought a pair of these to have the option of putting my toddler granddaughter in bed with me if she should wake up frightened during her first overnights away from home. When she grew out of the portable crib, we put her to bed on a full size mattress, one side at the wall, with one bumper on the opposite side, and one at the bottom (only tucked under the bedspread). She's never fallen out, although she has a habit of wriggling her head into the bumper at the top of mattress. On vacation last summer, just before her third birthday, we installed one on a twin bed that was bordered by a wall on one side . No fall outs there either.
That was the good news. Unfortunately, this bumper style has some practical issues. They're quite long, and have some weight to them. They did not arrive in the so-called carrying bag; it was folded into the package. There's absolutely NO WAY they will fit in this bag. I used all my cushion cover stuffing tricks and just barely managed to get one into it. The bag is useless, IMO. Without something to contain them they're quite unwieldy, and take a lot of space. Because they are hefty enough to knock things over, even moving them puts your lamps and other items in your path at risk. I finally settled for folding in half and securing with bungee cords, for storage in extra large clear plastic bags. A good place would be under the beds, but I don't have enough free space left there. Until I get around to a long overdue de-cluttering, they will continue to be shuttled between bedrooms when not in use.
They are a bit expensive, IMO, but worth it if your child sleeps away from home frequently. (I paid $39.69 for the pair.) Take away the storage issues and I would give them 5 stars for serving the purpose. However, I've subtracted one for the useless bag. When I was shopping, I think one picture showed a mommy model with the bag hanging neatly from her shoulder, ostensibly stuffed with bumpers, a misrepresentation. To be fair, this may in fact have been a different brand, but it would have been as useless as the one I received.
Finally, the smell was slight and tolerable after I washed the zippered covers. They have non-slip material on the bottom. Whether you mount it before or after putting the fitted sheet on, it's not as simple as represented. If you have only old-style fitted sheets you'll have trouble placing this bumper at all. In recent years I've noticed fitted sheets have become very tight, even those made for deep mattresses. It is rather difficult to get the bumper under and situated, but I can manage it by myself, and it stays more or less where I put it all night.
Summary: the bumpers serve their intended purpose well, but the bag is useless and storage is a problem.

Great for transitioning toddler from crib
LJ✓ Verified Purchase•October 31, 2023
We recently removed the front rail from our 2 year old's crib to make it more of a 'big boy bed', but we realized our crib's toddler railing part was discontinued right before transitioning him and needed something ASAP to keep him from falling onto the floor. I chose this instead of a mesh gate since it runs the entire length of the crib (52 inches); he tends to flip directions in the middle of the night and we need more than half of the bed guarded. It's been about ten days since the transition and he's slept in his bed EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He loves this new 'pillow' since it's memory foam and very soft, but it's high enough that he hasn't flipped over or rolled off. He's still able to get out of bed all by himself "when there is sunshine" and come say good morning, so it's the perfect height. Only issue is that it's just big/tall enough that our cheap amazon sheets don't quite fit/stretch over, so some of the crib mattress does show (at the bottom), but we bought ugly construction vehicle sheets to entice him to stay in bed and appearance doesn't really matter to me at this point. Just one star off for having to wiggle it back into place each night since it does slide a bit - nothing drastic though. Will likely buy the bigger one once we transfer him to a twin or full bed next year.
Works great as alternative bed rail

Works great instead of standard bed rail. 😊
Solution to our problem!
Heather✓ Verified Purchase•October 13, 2023
We have bed rails installed on the sides of our bed but our toddler moves around a lot in his sleep and we were worried he might fall off the bottom of the bed but didn't want to purchase another bed rail and completely box our bed in. We put this across the bottom of our bed and it solved our issue as I know he can't roll over it!
Thumbs up
