I bought these because the reviews were good and they fit the Altra Lone Peak trail shoes, but I didn't realize how much I was going to need them on a trail that was covered in snow and mostly hidden. They were easy to get into and out of, which was important for sporadic, slippery snow patches. But sometimes I just left them on while in between snow patches and they held up well against dirt, mud and rock. They saved my trek.

I bought these ahead of a backpacking trip when the forecast showed snow likely. As it turns out, 3 inches of the fluffy white stuff fell while I slept. These made the hike out so much safer and easier.
They fit my boots (Columbia Redmonds, size 12) perfectly. The velcro straps did not fit so well, but weren't needed (I had zero slippage or shifting). The terrain (under the snow) was mostly rocks, roots and mud and these helped a LOT with the up/downhill sections.
My only gripe is that in certain spots (where the ground was soft under the snow), I'd get some pretty big clumps of compacted snow jammed in the spikes. Usually a quick stomp on a rock/root or smacking my boot against a tree dislodged those clumps. Every once in a while, I need to dig them out with a stick or the tip of a trekking pole.

I purchased this for use during my winter trip to Iceland. I am an island girl and I've never used ice cleats before. I can say that they fit great and they look really badass 😎 lol... jk jk. Really though, it was fairly easy to figure out and they are comfortable if you get the right size. My boot ended up being an 8.5 instead of a 7.5 so the Medium was a little small as you can see from the photos, but the size chart provided is accurate and I expect it to fit better once I correct the sizing of the boot. They were comfortable to walk in and they didn't slide around or move once affixed. This was my fear which is why I chose not to get a Large. I will update this review to detail how it performs through the Icelandic winter. Until then!
