I liked this kit, it was far more convenient than going to the gardening store and hunting down everything I needed and then dealing with excess materials. Also, I personally like supporting small businesses. The only thing is be VERY careful how much water you use with these soil disks. The 8oz that I used per the directions was far too much for my first disk and i had to actually squeeze excess water from the soil and allow the soil to dry out a bit before use. So just use small amounts at a time to ensure you don't get it too damp. Other than that, pretty good and I like the guarantee the company has that if you're not satisfied, they'll help you out.

UPDATE: I planted these on 3.22 and by 4.6 everything had sprouted. I did not have any mold issues but I think it's because I didn't overwater the soil when I added the water initially. With peat pots I had success avoiding mold by every 3 days or so bottom watering them and then misting the top soil with water once daily.

I bought this as a gift. End up giving something else. Started them for myself. The grew well. Now outside in herb garden.

I've never been more excited to open an Amazon package as I have been for this one! The moment I opened the kit, I knew I was going to be impressed with everything in it! The simple artwork and presentation alone are well thought out. The creative way the herbs are stored was a nice surprise! The instructions are simple, detailed, and easy to understand. A link was also available for those who wanted a step by step how-to video.

I absolutely love that everything included is organic and non-GMO!

The detailed instructions made it very easy for me to set everything up and plant the seeds. I kid you not...once I had the organic containers planted, and on my windowsill; I checked on them so many times just to look at how adorable they were! Each pot has its own wooden stick with the herb's name and a space to write the date planted.

1/4-1/2 cup of water and light from the window each day is all needed to ensure your herbs will thrive. The first sight of a seedling emerging is soooo exciting!

Since this kit, I've also bought another for a family member! These would make an amazing, unique gift for such a reasonable price!

Now, for one of the things that impressed me most was the company's story and customer service. This is a husband/wife company . I won't go into details other than, their story is mentioned beautifully in the kits' information. They truly care about the customer, and their happiness with their product. I emailed them a few times, and always received a heartfelt response in an incredibly short amount of time!

I was so excited to get this little kit in the mail & so far it's lived up to that excitement! It came extremely well packaged & loved how the seeds were stored! The kit is extremely beginner friendly, coming with everything you need.

I planted the seeds the day they arrived in the mail; 5 soil disks and peat cups come with this kit. While I was working with one soil disk, I let the next one soak in water, being sure that the disks all soaked up all the water (patience is key here). After I broke up the dirt with my hands in a large bowl & the lightly placed the diet in the peat cup (making sure soil was very light and not compact). I placed the seeds according to their extremely helpful guide book- although I didn't place the parsley seeds on top of the soil as directed because I planted too fast and was too excited- but nevertheless, it's growing well!!

These pictures represent the 2 week mark of my herbs being planted! Thyme was the first one to poke through followed by basil! Cilantro and sage were the last to pop through the soilbut they're still growing at the same height as the others!!

Great product, I bought two kits for both my parents who like gardening. They really give you everything to help you set up. I do want to make note that the "pots" they give you are pretty delicate (they are made of some sort of cardboard/biodegradable material) especially when you water the plants and they can rip at the top if you move the pants around. If you follow the directions, the herbs start growing immediately. Some herbs take longer than others to get going. You do not need to have a green thumb to start these out, however, once they get too big for the starter pots (around 6 inches tall) it gets a bit more tricky. You will not be able to actually use the herbs until much later on and after you have repotted them to larger pots (you need to buy all new pots). Taking care of the more matured herbs will require some gardening skills to know how to keep them alive. Once in bigger pots, you are kind of on your own because you need to decide when to change out the pots, water, and take care of the herbs. Not a huge deal for people who enjoy gardening, but this might be overwhelming for someone who wants an easy project.
