One of my dogs requires medication daily and we've been experimenting with the dose to try to keep him healthy but at the lowest levels of the drug possible (all instructed by his Dr). I have been chopping his pills up using a knife, only to end up with a powdery mess all over my counters and really uneven pill dose portions. My husband rolled his eyes at me when I mentioned that I bought this and said that he could cut the pills just fine without it...but ended up making a bigger mess than I had. So when this little godsend arrived at my door the next day, I immediately took it for a spin and then ended asking myself how I'd made it 43 years without one (I've been on meds my whole life too, this could've come in handy many times in the past). This gadget makes cutting even the hardest pills so simple and leaves very little pill dust inside. You can line your pill up with the inside line marker to make it super easy and then rotate the whole, already-halved pill for quartering. I am extremely happy that I made this purchase, it's awesome and I know that every dose of pill that my pooch is getting is the exact dose that he needs.

Good price and it scores my pills really easily! They also give you a small container to put your pills in so that was also handy to have.

I don't have enough experience with pill cutters, to say whether a different one would be better than this one. I think the ability to slice a pill in half without it crumbling at all depends more on the composition of the pill than it does on the cutter. The pills I take are dry and do get a little bit of dust-like crumbs when I cut them, but I don't consider that significant. I'm satisfied with it.

I was worried it would be cheap but it's actually good quality and cuts cleanly, with a nice little storage area for the pills to drop into. The CVS brand one I picked up tends to crumble pills or not quite cut all the way through. This is obviously the winner and I'm buying another one.
