Bought for use in the construction field both residential and commercial. It has been used by both departments now and so far has been durable for both which is not common for test equipment for us. Residential crews have found the wood stud finder most useful since it will find the center of the stud for placement of wood screws. Commercial crews have preferred it in helping to locate wiring as well as metal studs. The only criticism from a few of our crews was the need to read the instructions which is a problem for our crews not a product issue. The few who were confused thought it would sense voltage on wiring and they could skip the step of verifying it was not live wiring. It found the wire well but it is not a voltage sensor. Overall it has proven itself but will keep an eye on it for long term durability. At the current pricing it is a good investment for us.

My old stud finder finally died. I'd had it since the 1980's and I thought it worked pretty good. Now that I have this new stud finder I wish I had bought something like this a lot sooner. I've tried all of the settings and I find this to be very accurate. I just used it so I could mount a fire extinguisher, which is very heavy. I needed accuracy so I could get all four screws into one stud and it worked as advertised. What else can I say about this stud finder? It's easy to use. It is very accurate. And unlike another user that condemned this as poorly built and that he had to wait a few seconds for it to calibrate itself, I really like it. He should have returned it for a replacement if he had a problem. However, some people are never happy. He even knocked it because it is purple? Really? I like the purple color. It doesn't clash with the colors of any of my rollaway tool boxes, LOL. That in and of itself is a good indicator that that guy is never going to be happy. Anyway, I am very happy and I am going to buy one for my son and my son-in-law. Just buy it and try it. You will like it.
