The pencil grippers are fantastic. My 5 year old loves them and it instantly made his writing better and easier for him and me. Win-win.
Inside the box was a card saying that I could scratch off and "win" a free product. What do you know, I "won", followed the directions on the card, and then was directed to fill out this review before claiming my prize (the prize was a free swim cap--I don't even want it so I'm not getting it). Yes they are buying reviews. They did not say what I had to say in my review, nor did they specify that it had to be a positive review, but this shady tactic encourages reviewing before using. Just thought buyers should know that many reviewers probably have not actually used the product.
However, the pencil grippers really are decent. We have used them for about 3 days now and my son's handwriting is 10000% better.

Kids *want* to use these, and they really do force proper grip

My tutoring students come to me with a range of handwriting ability, from the painful-to-watch to really quite good, but they all ask to use these grips because they're just so adorable. (I only wish I could buy a set in all tie-dye, since that's the one everyone wants!)
They aren't *helpful* for my kiddos who already have decent grips going on, and because they're a bit bulky can even make handwriting less excellent for those kids (but only while they're using them). On the other hand, for the kiddos who tend to hold their pencils like Coke cans or baseball bats, these pencil grips are *wonderful*. Their fingers are forced into the correct positions (some other grips may be comfortable, but still allow bad habits), but they don't seem to mind because the owls are so cute. It does take some time and consistency to retrain their habits so correct grip transfers to writing even without using the little owls, but it's a very helpful tool.
And I have lots of students saying, "Text my parents so they know where to get owls for me to use at home!"
