I live in Florida and bought this unit in 2016 after Hurricane Matthew hit us. It sat in my garage for year, only started it once every 4 or 5 months and let it run for 20 min at a time. Then Hurricane Irma hit us this year (2017). So this was my first real test for this generator and i couldn't be more happy with it. It ran for a total of 80 hours and never let me down and what handled everything i tried to power with it. I had my full size, Whirlpool double door refrigerator/freezer, 12,000 BTU AC window unit, 65 inch LED TV with a surround sound system, 2 PlayStation 4's, Internet modem and router, another 40 Inch LED TV, 4 box fans, 2 standing fans, 7 lamps and a cell phone charger all running off it at the same time. With all that it never really seemed like it struggled to run anything. To my surprise it was actually great on how much fuel it used. With all that running on it throughout the day i was getting nearly 12-13 hours of run time on 7 gallons of gas. Which brings me to my next point, it was never really shut off for anything longer than an hour here and there and that was because we were leaving the house and didn't want to leave it running. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone and am very grateful that the people at A-ipower made such a quality product. It was the biggest comfort in a tough situation.

With all of the PG&E planned power outages, it was time to do something about the risk of losing food in the freezer and refrigerator. We live in the country so a couple days without power during the winter is not impossible to get thru with some camp gear and a wood stove. However, going longer than that and more often...not so much.

So enter our new AI-Power Generator. Package arrived earlier than originally promised after requesting an expedited shipping as rumors were still swirling another shutdown was coming. SenPower/Ai-Power worked with us and accommodated us in this request. Would have gotten here even sooner if the roads weren't snarled up in the vicinity of the mfg plant due to wild fires burning near there. Will call at the shipping warehouse got it here in 4 days from time of order. Packaging was in good shape and the unit with some help for lifting and assembly was a breeze. After putting in the required oil and fuel...it fired right up the first time.

Today we added the necessary wiring to the panel for a direct plug in, we fired it up again to test it and we ran the generator with the oven and a burner on, the hot water heater, both the freezer and fridge with all the lights on. Wow! Oh, and I even turned on a little ceramic heater in the guest bath. The generator only slightly loaded up when we turned on the oven and burner but continued to run smoothly. Very happy with my purchase and my brother ordered one too. I'm ready PG&E...bring it!

Update to review: well as I get further and further into this purchase, the less i like it, which should not be a surprise because most things that i purchase these days never live up to the advertisement. so I keep coming back to my reviews and generally have to shave stars off as i discover flaws as i am doing right now and describing why.

Details: today I put the oil in it for the first time and cranked it up to run it with no load for the 5-hour break-in period. To do that, i had to put gas and oil in it for the first time, connected the battery terminal & on the fuel outlet and the hit the start and it cranked right up and smoothed right out in side a minute.

So far so good, but i had put about 2 gallons of fuel in it and I went to check the supposed fuel gauge and it is registering nothing. It ran 3.3 hours , according to the hour gauge before running out of gas and I put a couple more gallons in it and I HAVE YET TO SEE that gauge move or register ANYTHING. I've looked in the manual about the use of the gauges and there is absolutely nothing in the manual about either of them except to point out where they are in a drawing of the generator. So regarding teh gauges and how they work, I am left only with my observations of the gauges to report here, which is: THE Fuel GAUGE ON THIS MACHINE THAT IS GOING FOR $2K NEW (I PAID less than HALF THAT FOR mine NEW right here on Amazon!) IS WORTHLESS CHEAP JUNK which DOES NOT WORK!

original review: I don't recommend anyone purchasing this one only because the new price (new) has been jacked up so high compared to others of the same power on Amazon a buyer can get more for less buying another brand.

Otherwise: I haven't cranked or used this yet but will do so and leave comprehensive review. it's solid and mostly steal construction with steel tank. the only non steel items on it are the wheels, gaskets, shock absorbing pads, the breather, wire covers and hoses. i had a smaller one just like it and it cranked with ease and ran smooth, though I never connected a load to it.

Let's put it this way, i was\\s impressed enough with it that i sent it back because it came with broken parts and I wasn't happy with the power, how it was advertised, BUT i liked it enough to order this larger one when i saw the great price on it, under $1k and just about $200 more at and MORE THAN twice the power of the one I sent back.

But my sub $1k new purchase was one fulfilled by Amazon and this one at more than double the price is by third parties which I don't recommend because you can get other brands right here on Amazon with the more power than this unit for the same cost.

also, the smaller one I bought and sent back , IS NOW the same price as this one! So the retail vendors of this brand are pricing it right off Amazon, as far as I can see, as it's gone from the least expensive to one of the most expensive behind Honda.

I bought this unit for the occasional power outage and have used it for 3 hours of outage on two occasions plus about 20 short runs for testing and wiring it to the house. I don't have long term usage but when I needed it, it worked perfectly. I did use it to power a 36000 BTU (3.5 ton) central air conditioner along with a 2 HP deep well pump. I started the central air first and then added the pump load along with some miscellaneous small loads. The operating load of all this was about 6kW, well within the generator's limits but my original question was whether the generator could handle the starting load of the air conditioner and the pump starting load with the air conditioner running. Those brief starting loads can be 3 to 5 times the running load. The generator slowed down for a second or two but then handled the load easily.
Other observations: The manual is clear and has full diagrams of the electrical system. The unit appears to be well constructed with a solid frame and a solid fold out handle. It started on the first pull and starts quickly with the electric starter. Voltage was 121 Volts with no load and 119 under half load. Light load frequency is 60.5 Hz. It is fairly loud with a combination of mechanical, air intake and well muffled exhaust noise but I thought it was reasonable for the size. It not going to be in your living room anyway. The only thing it is missing is load metering but that comes with higher priced units.
In sum, a good quality unit for a very reasonable price.
I measured the frequency with a more accurate meter and found the unit was running at 62.5 Hz with almost no variation from a 200 Watt load to a 4000 Watt load. This small error (4%) was the reason an APC Back-UPS 550VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BE550G) would not steadily pass the load to the generator but would cycle every 10 seconds back and forth between generator power and its internal battery power, eventually running its battery down. A replacement tripp lite unit bought from Amazon works well and passes to load to the generator.

This generator is absolutely awesome and totally worth the money. I run my welders, plasma and other tools off of it and it runs them better than a 220 or 120 wall plug does. Only downfall I will say is it doesn't have auto idle or any idle so it runs full bore the whole time which I'm ok with considering the amount of running and starting watts I got for the money.
