Easy setup out of the box. Comes with dipswitch tool to customize settings. Looks and sounds great with no humming or akward sounds.
Great neutral sounding phono preamp

Very good phono preamp once all the dip switches are set correctly for your phono cartridge.
The unit isn't broken in yet, but I don't really expect much difference in sound from now till then.
What I notice is that the neutrality is perfect for my system. Nothing, the bass, the mids, nor the high end is overly played or boosted. Everything is nice and even, balanced. Which is what I needed on a very sensitive and revealing system.
The lp-110 is good at soundstage layering, giving different instruments separation in the sound field. This gives a better 3D effect than my previous phono preamp. The lp-110 at times would provide the same note different depths and timbres, that impressed me.
Not bad for an entry level high end phono preamp in a diminutive little black box.
As for clarity, its very good with a hint of warmth. Its analog, that you will know for sure.
The highs are what impress me. They are extended up and played out very smoothly. They don't have the usual distorted sibilance that many lesser phono preamps produce. This is a welcome change to my ears and much appreciated!
Bass is very good, its balanced neutrally with the mids and highs. It is, however, quite articulated and clear. I notice on some songs that the bass almost has a "growl" to it, if you will. That in itself is very satisfying....
Mids? Just as good as everything else, the bass and the highs. Once again the neutrality of this preamp is showing its strength. The mids being most important where most of all the information of music, including voices comes thru. Yes, the mids are indeed very, very good. Very clear and enjoyable to listen to.
Now, to be clear, my description of this wonderful little preamp is just merely my opinion of how it sounds in my system. Your mileage may vary. Every system, I mean EVERY system sounds different by quite a margin. Luckily for me my expectations were met with this little preamp.
I'm happy with it!
Moon by Simaudio is the best!

Fantastic Phono pre-amp. Blows away anything out there. But I am biased with a Moon 240i and a Moon MiND streamer.
Great phonostage!

So I did not need a new phono preamp my Cambridge Audio 651P has done me well for nearly fours years. But I wanted one. Why? Well, it is personal.

You see when I got my SimAudio 100D DAC at half price closeout deal on MusicDirect, I really loved that thing. In fact, I wanted a SimAudio 110 LP but they were $650 and out of my budget. Instead I put in an order at HifiHeaven for a Cambridge Audio 640P new/old stuck for just $185 not a bad bargain. It was no more than a few hours later I got an email they were out of stock and they ended up giving me a 651P for the same price. Not bad. But then it was no more than a few months after that on MusicDirect SimAudio 110lp the thing I wanted went on closeout for $325 or half price. I was kicking myself. So, when I saw that SimAudio came out with the 110LP v2 at a much more less insane $399, I thought that is nice I might get that if my 651P dies. Then I saw a couple of good reviews and someone here recommended me it to me and I went ok I might get that thing one day. Then I sold an old pair home theater speakers I had and I knew I was going to snag and frankly for $199 out of pocket it was an expensive but not stupid insane crazy.

The real question is it might be what I wanted but is it any good? And is it better than the quite damn good CA 651P?

Yes and yes.

The form factor might work a bit better in my room but there are plenty of phono preamps that would not be a wide ass a little box like the Cambridge Audio. I liked the fact it has a ton of loading options but a lot of lesser expensive phono preamps have those. So, what are the advantages? It has better details and detailing of the sound and related a better separation of the instruments in soundstage.

Did you do a/b checks? Yes. With myself and my son.

Wait man, did you level check? Yes, with a decibel meter both running at my normal listening level of the mid 70s range.

Were you simply hearing a boosted high end or perhaps even the source is a bit bright? Nope, listen I used to get in this trap early on where a treble forward presentation wowed me for a second before becoming fatiguing on long listening. But the details do not just have a greater clarity in the highs it extends to a more articulate midrange and slightly tighter bass. This leads to the separation of instruments. Does the better details give a better separation of the details or does the better separation help highlight the details better? I have no freaking clue. I just know each instrument sounds more precise and like it has more room to breath.

Hell, when I read a review and they talk about a source sounding more open or airy this is what I think of. What I heard today. I think of better instrument separation. See with speakers they could be talking about a lot of things like soundstage or imaging and all that. But a source is not going to change the imaging or soundstage characteristics of your speakers they just are not.

The bass is a bit deeper as well but I do not want to overstate that. Primarily the details and instrument separation are the key.

Would I suggest this as an upgrade to an audiophile who just upgraded his table for the first time and wanted a nicer phono preamp to pair it with? Yes.

Would I suggest you ditch your nice phono preamp you already enjoy for this? Not unless there is something you do not like about your phono preamp or you have a personal reason like me to have this one.

Would I suggest this to someone putting together a new system even someone getting a really good $1k+ turntable? Oh hell yes it is really freaking good.

My son called it night and day but that is hyperbole. It is however really freaking good.

Are there any negatives? Just the big blue always on blue led I am going to have put a sticker on. Outside of that? Nope.
Sounds great!!
