The Sound is Great
Cazador de patos✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 6, 2024
I just replaced a set of very old Paradigm outdoor speakers with the new Sonos. I changed over from a large receiver set up to the Sonos amp and 5.1 indoor system a few months ago and really like it. I decided to give the outdoor speakers a try. I can say they sound awesome, really nice bass response from a speaker this size and very clear. The mounting system is great, such a clean install. I would definitely recommend these if you have a Sonos system and wires for outside. As others have stated you cannot change the volume if you have 2 sets of speakers, not sure why anyone would think you could the amp only has one wired output.
Incredible speakers

The media could not be loaded. These are well built speakers that have already survived a few torrential downpours. Only time will tell how they hold up in the long run but so far, so good.

The sound quality is incredible. I have other Sonos products so that wasn't surprising. But I was initially concerned that I would need a subwoofer to pair with these. I was very wrong. They produce a great, full-bodied sound all on their own and easily fill our 400 square foot terrace with sound. Even at very low volume levels they produce an amazing amount of sound.

The mounting brackets are pure genius, allowing you to install them in a lot of different ways. It's up to you to get the right screws but these brackets are fantastic. And it's really easy to remove the speakers if you need to.

Wiring the speakers is very easy too.

Overall I love these and if you already have an amp the price on Amazon is great.
Incredible sound & genius connector protection

We have Sonos throughout our house. The back patio was the last to be upgraded. A Sonos Amp powers the back patio, which used to be a pair of Klipsch outdoor speakers and they sounded fantastic. But, they were approaching 15 years old and one of them was flaking out. We replaced them with these Sonos outdoor speakers and the sound is another level. It now sounds like we have a subwoofer outside somewhere. The highs are crystal clear. The Amp manages EQ for them. We couldn't be happier.
Solid upgrade from Polk Atrium
The Exacting Consumer✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 8, 2024
I've had Atrium 5's for many years now, but I decided to upgrade to a 6.5" driver for its superior range and response. I considered the Atrium 8 at first, but then I noticed these Sonos Architectural speakers were on sale here for a deep discount.

Installation is very straightforward. Simply screw the bracket into place, push your speaker wire through the waterproof membrane in the back, and connect it to the push-down terminals in the front. Click the speakers into the bracket and rotate them to a position of your liking.

At first listen, I was impressed but not blown away. The bass response was definitely better, and the mids were cleaner with less mud than my 5" drivers. But overall, the sound was just "okay."

Then I remembered that there's a special setting for these speakers in the Sonos app. I went to System > Amp > Detect Sonos Architectural. The music stopped, a high-pitched scale played, and then...WOW!!!

These speakers came alive! The range and bass response were on a whole new level, and the volume capability was truly impressive. The difference was night and day.

If you're connecting these speakers to a Sonos Amp, don't forget this step! Set the EQ to your liking, and you'll be very happy.

Would I have bought these speakers at their normal price of $900? Probably not. But for near $460, they're a fantastic upgrade over the Atrium 8's and a worthy contender to any other outdoor 6.5" driver on the market.

Pros:

-Excellent sound quality, especially after enabling the special setting in the Sonos app
-Wide range of bass and mids
-High volume capability
-Easy installation
-High quality construction

Cons:

-Pricey at the full price of $900
-Requires a Sonos Amp to unlock peak potential

Overall:

If you're looking for a high-quality outdoor speaker system, the Sonos Architectural speakers are a great option. They're especially good if you already have a Sonos Amp. However, they can be a bit pricey at the full price of $900.

Recommendation:

I highly recommend the Sonos Architectural speakers, especially if you can find them on sale. They're a great way to improve the sound of your outdoor entertainment system.
Great speakers - the 'new school' for audio enthusiasts.

I come from the old school - wired speakers - massive woofers, sweet tweeters and mellow midranges.
My first set of speakers were 3' tall and weighed nearly 100 lbs. each. That was in 1981.
I had an impressive set up. Now, Sonos.
It takes a while to get your get your head around the fact that there is NO LONGER a central location of an amplifier etc.
Each speaker is powered by 110 VAC wall mains, so wires (of a different kind) are still present even-though this is wireless. It is wireless in the sense that all feeds of sound come in wirelessly.
Everything, meaning all your music choices, come via a mobile device. I love this set up....expensive to cover the entire house, but easy to set up and the response time is nearly immediate.
You can get a thing from Sonos where you can hook up a turntable and your old stuff. But I gave all that stuff away. I can have each speaker play something unique - a different music source feed. Crazy flexible.

Much love. Not really made for the outside, but I did buy some weather protection bags that hold the smaller speakers. I hung those outside under an eave. So far so good.
