This Garter Belt uses the metal clips that are like a thick wire bent into shape. They work well for thinner thigh high stuff but not for socks.
Also the waistband should have a thicker elastic band so it more securely holds to the waist without your stomach rolling it down.

It's a tiny bit on the tight side but that's good for a garter. The quality is way better than other nearly identical garters I tried from Amazon. Some reviewers complained that it easily unhooks from your stockings, but that's only if you don't secure it properly. Pull it tight and it will keep its place. I love it. It keeps my winter stockings up, which is what I bought it for.
