IMPORTANT NOTE: The box it comes in just looks like it will be a stainless steel color kettle. OPEN THE BOX AND CHECK BEFORE RETURNING! After I opened the box I noticed the correct rainbow color was inside. The box can be misleading, so make sure to check the actual product!

No, it doesn't whistle at all. HOWEVER, because it doesn't whistle it can also be used for face steaming and adding humidity during the winter!
It puts out plenty of steam when it's ready, which doesn't take long at all.
The rainbow color is exactly as shown in the pictures, and the plastic handles make it difficult to burn yourself when the tea is hot. PERFECT!

The media could not be loaded. This tea kettle is absolutely beautiful. It heats up quickly, pours smoothly and does in fact actually whistle when it's reached temperature. Inside of the lid, underneath the flange with the screw that secures the lid handle, there's a circular key with three brass bars, that when heated and steam passes through it, will bend and open to produce the "whistle". This key functions similar to a harmonica. It may take a couple times using the kettle to get the keys to open and hear it whistle. Also, if you see copious amounts of steam emitting from the pour spout, you don't have enough water in the kettle to make it whistle. There's a plate with holes, inside of the kettle body, at the base of the pour spout. These holes should be covered with water to hear the whistle. If you bought this kettle for it's looks, you'll be very pleased. If you bought it just to heat water, you'll be very pleased. And if you bought it to hear it whistle, please be patient and try the suggestions I listed above. I've attached a video of it singing (whistling), as well as pics showing the proper water level and underneath the lid.
