Put down about 30 tons of asphalt grindings and used this to compact it all. Estimate I did about 2000 sq ft and no problems. It was on a slope, so had to manually pull it up hill sometimes and it does leave a raised line of material when you turn it or are going across the slope due to the non rounded edges of the bottom compacting plate sides, but I just drove over it with my SUV and leveled them all out. Compactor worked great to compress and level the high spots I had from spreading it with a tractor bucket.

This compactor starts easily and runs very well. The weight of this machine combined with compaction force is quite effective. I used this on a large residential driveway to compact a 4"-6" AB base, and concrete pavers laid on 1" bedding material (1/4" minus decomposed granite) over the AB base. I have purchased cheap tools (harbor freight) in the past and have never been happy with the quality. This machine exceeded my expectations in quality and efficiently performed the work it was designed for. My plan was to sell it after completing the project but I'm so surprised by how well it works that I'm strongly considering keeping it for possible future projects, and it will make a nice addition to my tool collection.
One more thing. If you get in a tight spot and can't turn the machine around, adjust the throttle just a bit above idle and you can make it reverse direction (might require a little bit of pulling/pushing depending on if you are on a uphill grade).

This machine works well starts well and runs well but is difficult to use on anything that is not level. I've been trying to use it on a pad with road base material but with small rises of 3" or more it is hard to move it up the rise other than that it works good.
