Got this for EMP as well as lighting protection, the latter per my electrician who installed it. I think it's a good investment. On the exterior, it only shows a small device but the main box had to be put inside the panel.

We purchased this EMP Shield "“ Home EMP & Lightning Protection + CME Defense for Flush Mounted Breaker Box for protection of our home electrical equipment in the event of a solar Coronal Mass Ejection event. We have already installed one on our truck so we wanted to protect our in home electronics and appliances.
It seems that we are now currently in a solar time of many solar flares but we have been lucky so far. Back in 1859 the Carrington Event occurred that caused wide spread fires along the route of the telegraph stations across America. Today such an event could put us back several hundred years with no functional electrical grid to maintain our society. Trucking and mass transportation of food and materials may stop altogether. So we didn't want to be exposed to that risk.
The unit was simple to install to both legs on the load side of a 20 Amp breaker, and the ground and neutral wires to attached to the bars. I mounted the unit just below the electrical panel and the two green leds indicate the EMP shield is functioning properly. I recommend this well engineered CME/EMP protection.

I put one of these in each of my cars and one in my house breaker box
Two days after i had installed these, we had a terrific thunder storm. One lightning bolt hit one of my pine trees near my house. The bang was frighteningly loud.
Happy to report that the only electrical object in my house that was blown up was the internet router, and that was due to the coax cable that comes directly into the house, bypassing the breaker box.
Proof to me that this works.
