Family loves the water from this filter!
PenKay✓ Verified PurchaseDecember 24, 2023
My husband loves water filters, and I have to agree they are very nice. We got another filter because we were so impressed with the one we got some weeks ago. As with the other, this one was very easy to install (if the water/ice maker has a standard 3/8" compression fitting) because it came with an inline diverter, and my husband only needed a couple of adjustable wrenches and a utility knife to cut the tubing to the right length. The filter also uses push-to-connect fittings. My husband had the family do a blind taste test with the filtered and unfiltered water and it obvious which one was filtered because it had no harshness, chlorine order, or aftertaste. As with the other filter, make sure the shutoff valve is turned off when changing the filter cartridge because this filter assembly does not have a built-in check valves like most refrigerators have (restricts flow). I love this filter, and now I wonder if we need more in the other two sinks we have. LOL! Highly recommend!
We are just using it for drinking water only.

Our need for filtered drinking water was in the laundry room. That's because it is convenient to the pantry/coffee maker and filling water bottles. So my husband hooked it up to a spout, not the whole faucet. He needed a few parts that were not included with this filter but they were easy and cheap. He's not a plumber by any stretch but was able to get this done in about an hour. The hole for the spout was already drilled and the snap together connectors were fast and secure. Since we have well water we don't have chlorine taste issues. As for the lead removal this filter promises, I really don't know but will rely on the NSF testing. Since we only use it sparingly, it should last a long time. Replacement filters are reasonably priced and easy to swap out.
Flow rate is pretty good w/easy install

Fairly easy to install, flow rate is a bit better than I expected and it seems to be doing pretty well, overall. Something I definitely am NOT is good (or super adventurous) with plumbing related matters. I can solder electrical connections or fix or do other stuff but plumbing and I have a history of staying out of each other's way. That said, this wasn't too bad and it seems to be working pretty well for our faucet because we have a well and our filter went out and we're waiting on insurance to finally approve it's replacement. In the meantime, this little guy is helping with our drinking water and it seems to be doing as well of a job as our LG fridge filter...with higher flow. It won't last the recommended time probably because of us having well water but it should last a bit. I was unsure as to whether this filters out mostly lead or other stuff as well and the answer is that it filters out a lot more than just lead.

Pros:

Easy install
Flows well
Supposed to last long
Good value for an easy filter system
Water tastes better than reg well water

Cons:

Have to use their filter when this one runs out as it seems to be a proprietary system.

Overall, I'd recommend checking it out and considering it with other choices as well.
Easy to install, and some improvement to water taste.

Installation was easy, even though we made it a little more complex by splitting the line first so that this filter goes to a special mini-water faucet meant for filtered water. (Instead of wasting filtration on water we don't drink.)

Both hubby and I took a blind test on the resulting water, tap water, and pitcher-filtered water.

When cold from being stored in the fridge for several hours (AND having been taken from the filter after running many gallons through it), both hubby and I could taste the difference easily. This filtered water was cleaner and had no flavor compared to the carbon flavored pitcher-filtered water, and certainly better than the chlorine tap water.

Strangely enough though, we both failed to be able to tell the difference between the tap water and this filter when the water was taken directly from the sink. It appears that the water sitting in the filter develops a slightly chemical taste similar to the tap chlorine... And if not flushed out fully first, it tastes a bit off. I hope this goes away over time as the filter gets more broken-in, but in the meantime it partly defeats the purpose of having a separate filtered line.

Note: I have not had my water tested for lead or other contamination, but this gives me peace of mind when drinking city water filled with random chemicals and older pipeworks.

Review begins:

OK let me start by saying that this is a fairly easy kit to install, and the cartridge is rated for 6 months/4,500 gallons.

A couple of things to take note of:

1. This is designed for a cold water inlet on the right hand side of the sink. I happen to own an older place where the cold water inlets are on the LEFT side. Don't ask me why, but I am also not the only one down here in Texas who has run into this. With that being said, if you have such a setup, you will need to remove the four screws from the top of the bracket and turn the filter holder 180 degrees OR you can loop the lines to the correct in/out orientation.

The kit comes with all the parts you need to easily install this under your sink cabinet. Total install time should take about 20 minutes (More if your under sink cabinet looks like Fibber McGee's closet like mine did)

The couplings all seat the intake and outlet hoses well and they seat without leaking.

The instructions do not mention using pipe tape on the cold water line adapter, but I did. I don't like leaking water lines.

Once you have it installed, open up your cold water line and let it run for about 15 minutes until you no longer see charcoal dust or a grayish tinge to the water. You should also do this any time you change the filter. This clears any dust or sediment out of the filter and prepares it for first run. The 15 minute time frame is approximately 20 gallons or so on a 1.5 GPM faucet.

The filter not only removes lead, but also other chemicals such as sulfur, copper etc. It leaves the water tasting much better then straight out of the tap. This is recommended on older urban systems such as the one at our four-plex. I do not know how well it would work on well water.

One other thing to note. This is NOT a whole house filter, nor is it a reverse osmosis filter. It is designed for use on a sink, such as your kitchen sink.

The water tastes better since I put this in last weekend. And that is a good thing.
