My first sound bar / subwoofer and I was really impressed

I just bought the new Samsung 55 inch QLED 4K TV and I wanted a little more out of the sound, so I ordered the Samsung HW-R450 to go with it. The input jacks are actually on the bottom of the sound bar, so you have to remember that orientation when positioning or mounting.
After hooking it up (easy-peasy) and turning it on I had to move the subwoofer away from my direct TV rec'r and Wi-Fi adapter because the sound bar couldn't see the subwoofer with anything in the way. I also moved it off of a carpet & put it on the floor which added fullness to the bass.
I'd read the manual and was expecting to have to push a lot of buttons and hold them down or whatever, but it turned out that I didn't have to push any buttons on the sound bar or the subwoofer. After I moved the subwoofer, they finally saw each other & locked up. The only thing I did change was the sound to surround sound with the remote and BOOM! The audio that came out was a night and day difference from the built in TV speakers.
For a test I put on "˜Star Trek the Movie' and cranked the volume up on the opening scene with the Klingon battle cruisers and it was awesome. Made it a different movie. The subwoofer puts out great low end bass. I never realized how hard the bass guitar player was working in the soundtrack to 2 1/2 men, that guy is really jammin'. Samsung HW-R450 is relatively inexpensive with a lot of bang for the Buck and brings much improvement to watching TV. Definitely worth the money.

Works well with my xBox and Samsung TV

I originally tried to get a Vizio soundbar but I couldn't find the one I wanted. This was available and it matched the TV width I had. It sounds pretty great! It gets nice and loud and the subwoofer really fills the area its in. I REALLY liked how it integrated with the TV and xBox so I can use my xBox remote to volume up and down on streaming apps. The exact orientation of the bar is a little funny but certainly usable. I think this bar may have been intended for use in countries other than the US (Central America?) only because it took a while to ship and the first language in the manual was Spanish. The voltage and connector types of course worked fine, the only possibly (I'm stretching it) issue could be English customer service for this item could be limited. I mention this in this way not because I am worried I will be talking to customer service rep with English as a second language, but I know many older people with hearing impairment have issues following instructions from people with heavy accents. I give the remote 3 stars because it is NOT amazing. It works and it is an awkward but usable shape. If I had to rely on the remote for its primary function I would use it less. My xBox remote will power on my TV and the soundbar at the same time and my TV remote will control all of its primary functions. I am satisfied with this.
Works well

Our old sound bar had to be turned on separately from the TV. This bar is on when I turn the TV on, which is how the old one was supposed to work. No messing with it needed. Sound is good.
Great improvement, easy to set up.

I have a Samsung 4k 8-series and this soundbar was instantly compatible, no firmware download required. I'm using HDMI, which requires an ARC port, otherwise the optical connection works well. The speaker is wireless so it can be placed anywhere in the room (it has its own power source). It has bluetooth which I tested and works well, but I thought that the sound quality wasn't as good.
The improvement was immediately noticeable and substantial. It's not a $5000 home theater system, but it's quite clear and has good bass. A HUGE improvement over the tinny small speakers that come in modern thin TVs. Streaming music through the TV sounds great as well. I haven't tried other features like plugging something into USB or streaming through bluetooth.
So far I'm VERY happy with this and was exactly what I was looking for. I may contemplate adding some rear and side speakers at some point.
Edit 5/8/21: After several month of using this soundbar, I'm extremely happy with it. For the size, it puts out a very impressive amount of sound with high enough quality sources. It's not just about the bass or how loud it is, but the quality which is very superb for what it is. If you're on the fence about getting one, I highly recommend it. I'm now highly considering getting a set or two of the surround speakers you can pair with it.
Edit 10/25/22: I've had this a couple years now and am still very happy with it. Add a lot of dimension and depth to shows and movies. I've had no problems with it and I've taken to use it as a music source as well using streaming services, namely as background music when entertaining, cooking, or just reading.
