This lighted document camera works great. I use it in my classroom with a ceiling mounted projector. I like to turn down the lights. The light is bright enough and the brightness can be adjusted. It was easy to install the program and easy to use. The base is weighted so that it doesn't slide around.

This thing is so tiny and lightweight, easy to carry and store! The Documate software is easy to find online and download from the website (installed in about 10 minutes). The camera plugs into my laptop's USB port; I open Documate and I'm good to go!

Features I like: Documate includes a nice whiteboard feature, as well as the ability to get a crisp image with the auto-focus (AF button on the actual device, or as a control in the software). The image can be reversed left-to-right, and/or upside down. I use the device for tutoring with Zoom (aiming the camera at a physical piece of paper on my tabletop usually), and I have also used it standing upright and aimed at my face, for video chatting with students or friends - the image flipping is useful then, else I'd be upside down! It has a better image than my laptop camera, and sometimes a more reliable microphone. There are basic tools like a marker so you can write on the image whether it's in white board or camera mode - I once wrote "Guten Morgen!" to float in the air next to my image with the camera, when chatting with my friend in Austria. It would be great for language learning with kids, I think - you could show yourself in an ordinary room in your house, and label chair, table, shelf, etc. on the screen while you talk.

I've only had 3 issues since purchasing this in November 2020, and the problems may not be with this device at all:
(1) when I used with my older laptop, that machine would crash after 15 minutes, but it was having that problem with anything video related;
(2) the LED bulb didn't work at my last tutoring session, though it worked before. But the camera picked up the natural light in the room better than my own eyes did! I found it easier to write by watching the screen, than watching my own writing directly.
(3) I tried to use the camera mic in my last Zoom session and I could not hear my student, so it was like it was expecting me to have a microphone headset combo .... but that could have been a Zoom issue or a problem with the student's computer.

Overall, this has been one of my best purchases of the year. I'm a currently unemployed and low-tech teacher, trying to figure out how to earn money from home during Covid. This has helped so much!

I Purchased this camera because I teach classes online. Based upon the reviews and how simple it was to download the software and install, I decided to purchase this one. I am not tech savvy at all and while I struggled a little bit I was successful without calling tech-support. My biggest issues is I couldn't find the icon after i installed the software. Super easy and intuitive once it's set up. It's great for close-ups. I like the auto focus. However if you have a large map, this is not the document camera for you.

You can easily demonstrate and show 11 x 8 1/2 and with some effort"¦ You can show 11 x 17 sheet of paper.

I purchased this in July 2020 in anticipation of using it for online instruction via zoom, and tested it out a few times. Ended up not needing it in the fall, but have used it for the past two weeks this semester. The built in LED light quit working after my first use this past week. As I remember, it wasn't all that important, but it bugs me now that its not working and I'm crossing my fingers that the rest of the camera works for me the rest of the semester. If not, I'll be stuck in mid lecture...
I use a mac, and software and instructions were easy to find on their website, and easy to install. I'm using the latest OS, Big Sur, and have updated the inSwan software to the latest with no problems in use. I actually have not found the annotating software really needed for my purposes, so I use this in zoom by sharing as a second camera. I have it positioned so it captures an 8.5 x 14 sheet of paper, which I use as a white board with fine tip markers, and just replace sheets of paper as I need more space. That is working good. I also use it to hold objects under, 3-d objects, that normally I would pass around the class--think biology--and that has worked good too. I am going to get some lamps so shine from the sides to make sure its lit up well underneath, without shadows. Have to work that out. Overall, with the exception of the LED that didn't last long, I'm satisfied with how this is working and students are able to follow along much as if I was standing by a white board.

Once I figured out how to use this with zoom, I have been thrilled with this document camera. I teach online and it makes all the difference in lessons.
