had a garbage disposal taken out and a new one properly installed and there is no longer a wall switch. We used this as the switch and it works great. You can just set the disk in a cupboard out of the way, or mount it with he adhesive backing where no one can see it if you want. Love that is has a timer on it and I can just press 30 seconds and keep cleaning up the kitchen.

A must have! If you are going to install a garbage disposal this truly is a game changer! I was dreading having to wire in a switch for it, because I already had to install an electrical outlet for the disposer from the dishwasher which I have never done before so adding a switch just made it intimidating. I didn't want to add an air switch it's extra work and I just don't like the look of them, it gives off I don't know what I'm doing, or I'm to cheap to install real switch vibes. When I seen this, I was like yesss! I love it! I also love that it has preset timmers on it. I like that you can put it where ever you want it- you can have it out like next to an outlet or you can put it on the inside of a cabinet, literally where ever you like. It looks cool too. The only thing I would like to see at least as an option, is having the remote some type of metal or even glass to give it a high end tactile touch to it. It doesn't feel cheap but I'm picky.

2 Year Update: We have had this for two years now and it's still working and looking as good as new. Still haven't had to replace the batteries either. We love it.

I bought this because I didn't want to have to have an electrician wire a wall switch to control my new disposal, and it was an inexpensive alternative to an air-switch, which requires a hole in the countertop.

This doesn't require any holes or wiring, setup is super-easy (just plug it in) and the remote control is small and sleek. I store the remote in the tip-out drawer in front of my sink, which has a metal liner, so the magnetic remote sticks to the metal and I didn't even need to install the mounting plate.

An unanticipated benefit is the timer function, i like that I can turn on the disposal for 30 seconds while i'm doing dishes or rinsing out the sink, and then put the remote away and not have to switch it off manually. Air switches and wall switches can't do that.

I agree with other reviewers who would have preferred shorter times on the remote, but 30 seconds isn't so bad (I don't think I'll ever use 60).

One minor point is that the actual outlet part is slightly large and can only be plugged in one way. I have one outlet under my sink, and a touchless sink that also needs power and needs to be plugged in. To fit both the sink plug and the disposal controller into the same electrical outlet required an adapter (which gets a bit tight when there is also plumbing under the sink). Keep that in mind if you plan on plugging something else into the same outlet where you're plugging in this controller.

Listen, I get it you might be skeptical. Here's the thing, electricity can be tricky for folks and this removes a lot of the tricky from your life. I used this on a garbage disposal unit because I didn't want to install an electrical switch. It's easy to use, plug into the desired outlet and remember to mount the remote where you know it will be used on a regular basis.

Like I said, easy to use and well worth it.
