This works great as a small backpack or 2nd Carry-on item. It is a little heavier than some on the market, probably due to the waterproof material, but it is durable and very functional. I used it on a trip to Australia as a carry-on / day pack. It holds a lot without being too big. Outside compartments for water bottle, phone, food bar are easily accessible. Kindle fits in the pocket with the flap, or phone. There is also a hidden pocket that is between your body and the pack. Good for your passport or other items you don't want easily accessible to pickpockets.
The strap shows a little wear at the top of the backpack where the carrying loop is. They must rub while I am walking. Hope that doesn't become a problem. I am VERY Happy with this backpack overall.

Material is strong and impermeable, have good amounts of pockets and compartment. I use it daily basis for work.

The quality of this bag is exceptional for the price. I appreciate the thick smooth nylon outer fabric, pleasantly textured lining fabric (not rough or crinkly), strong attachment of handles and straps, silver hardware (I don't like gold hardware), thoughtful and strategic but not overdone pocket placement, lightly padded backpack straps, non-snagging metal zippers, and dedicated, lightly padded purse strap, and well-proportioned side pockets. Criticisms I have are the pack could be a little lighter, and I would really, really like it to have a trolley sleeve. Also, I first purchased the gray and exchanged it for black because the gray was too light; from the photo, I thought it would be darker.
I bought this bag because I wanted a nylon backpack that could pass as a shoulder bag. For day travel I prefer a backpack to a shoulder or crossbody bag because distributing a bag's weight across my back is easier on my neck and shoulders. The problem is many museums, theaters and concert venues require backpacks to be checked or stored in a locker, which can be an inconvenience as well as a waste of time and money. I have found that many of those same institutions do allow reasonably sized shoulder bags to be carried in. A backpack that instantly converts to a shoulder bag just by taking it off and carrying it by the already attached shoulder strap is a clever and handy solution to the problem, and this bag solves it in style. I have a similar bag I bought from amazon a few months ago that is a bit smaller, lighter and cheaper, but its quality and looks don't come close to those of this bag.

What I love most about this bag, there are so many pockets, many zippered pockets. I searched and search, bought various bags looking for a bag that had many pockets, so all my stuff is not in a heap at the bottom of my bag. I can finally find items in my bag, so can hubby, who can never find anything in it. The bag is heavier than I expected, so I'm primarily using it as a backpack purse. I had a minor issue, contacted customer service and it was handled promptly to my complete satisfaction. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for the same things I was.
