Size up, especially if you order white. I am always a med. so I ordered a med in the white and a large in the black. I am 5'7 and 132lbs. The black fits perfect, but the white shows a little too much. You definitely have to wear a bra under the white one but you would not have to under the black. It is very long, so even though it helps the hips and butt, it can crawl up when wearing jeans.
