It didn't take long to get my girl trained to nudge the button with her nose. I just rubbed some chicken on the button and gave her a treat when she hit the button with her nose and then let her out. Even if she didn't hit the button, I hit the button, waited for the music to play and then opened the door. It took maybe several days of doing this. Once she figured it out, it was 🎵 ding dong music 🎵 all day long as she hit the button continuously. I think for her it meant let's go out and play stick. I obediently opened the door each time, sometimes I threw the stick, but always I let her out. Then after a while I had to tell her "no, we were not going out to play" and she has since calmed down. It's been two weeks and she doesn't ring it as often but she def knows what it's for. No more scratching and jumping on the door to go out.

Easy set up. Having volume control and sound choices was great. Loads of different sounds but few that I wanted to hear. I opted for the one that sounded like a door bell but different from the front door. Thank goodness I set it up and not my husband as his musical choices, while comical, we're not what I had in mind. Funny that both of my dogs only bark for the front door bell but not this similar sounding one on the back door. The doorbell attaches to my door frame with the included pre-cut sticky disc. I only attached the indoor bell and didn't attach the outside bell to enter the house because the back door is to be replaced soon. I wanted her to learn how to use the doggie door bell before I got the new door. I'll def reattach the indoor bell and begin using the outdoor bell once my new doors are in place. Highly recommended. Prevent doggie accidents, holes in the screen door, and scratches on the wood door and frame. I'm very happy with this purchase.

You could probably set up another doorbell (with different sounds and in different areas) for other things like treats, meals, go for walks or whatever you want your dog to communicate with you about.

My dog mastered this unit. We were in the fence between a traditional dog door bell and this electronic doorbell. It's really cool because you can select various tones and program different sounds for the indoor and out door sounds.

We've been using this for months now. My dog likes it, she abuses it from time to time driving us crazy with the bell going off. In. Then out. Then in. Then out"¦. But she no longer scratched our door and I have to repaint it. But"¦ now the door bell (just 1 of them) don't work. Is there a way to get replacement ones? I don't need the outlet plug-in. Just the bell to replace the one on the door.

I have had this bell for 2 years and it has been great for my dogs. I would like to note that the velcro sticker does wear out. My 150 lab cross has eaten the bell I placed on the outside of the door because it was loose. It can be a bit finicky when it rains and when the temprature is low enough but it was not a big enough issue to worry about. While I have enjoyed this brand a d was happy with my purchase they do need to include screws for mounting. If you live in an area where driving rains are common I recommend getting a door bell hood to go with it.

We purchased this to use with our dog Charli. She had already been trained to use a bell that we had hanging from the back door knob. But that bell kept getting closed in the door and just didn't look good hanging there. This door bell has been the perfect solution. I do think its a wonderful training tool and probably works best if used early in the training phase ( when your dog is young). I love that our dog can now alert us when she wants to come in or go out. It seems to be well made and we have had no issues with the device.
