I needed a drive that could play DVDs and read CD's. I am glad it works well with my Macbook Pro. I can watch DVD's no problem. I have a lot of old photos on CDs. It was easy to download them from the CD's with this drive. All I had to do was plug the USB C connection to my Macbook Pro. I didn't have to plug in my MacBook pro at the same time. A very easy system to use and a good value as well. Recommended.

Easy to set up and just as easy to use. While running I didn't notice it to be significantly louder than an internal optical drive, but it is noticeable. The color is also more of a darkly burnished bronze than the bright copper the pictures show. Still quite happy with the purchase.
DVD Reader Review for MacBook Air Good So Far

The media could not be loaded. The dvd reader worked well. I used the drive on my MacBook Air. Easy to use. The drive itself is a decent weight; pretty lightweight. I didn't watch the whole dvd but I skimmed through it using the fast forward/skip buttons and had no issues. I like that there was no software needed to play the DVD. I will have to use the writing function soon so I will see how that goes. Curious to see how it will work and what will be needed to burn a DVD/CD.

Edit: Customer service has been amazing and has replaced my item. I don't believe this is an amazing product as I still experience glitches here and there but for the price I think it is worth it.
This is probably the worst thing I have ever purchased through Amazon. I am using this product for my MacBook Air as it needs an external DVD drive. To start, although the cable technically fits into my laptop it does not feel like it is the correct fit. I had to almost force it in and I was nervous that it could cause harm to my laptop if I used it over time. Then it appeared to not stay connected and I believe that is because of the cord. At one point I could not get it to turn back on to eject the DVD that was in it. I spent minutes attempting to turn it back on, but it would not connect and I was unable to get my movie out for some time. I would give this a zero star rating if I could. I strongly suggest that you do not purchase this product. I have not attempted to use the USB cord with another device and cannot say if it works better that way, but it clearly states that this product is comparable with the MacBook Air. I am honestly baffled by the high reviews this product has received.
