You get what you pay for
It is not super fast.
It does have trouble reading small QR codes
I'm sure if you pay way way more than you'll have a device that's much faster and reads better.
The standby mode can get annoying. I'm sure the is a way to change it. But it reconnects fast enough for what I use it for.
If you have a big business where you'll be doing a lot of inventory. If definitely say buy a well known scanner. But if you're okay with slower response and hit and miss on how fast it can scan certain barcodes, then this one will work just enough.

Charging cradle is very poorly designed

The box the scanner came in had no tamper seal or any tape sealing the box closed. Inside, the scanner was in a unzipped ziplok bag. Inspection of the scanner and charging cradle shows no physical signs of damage.
A quick test of the scanner shows it is fully functional with both 1D and 2D barcodes.
The charging cradle is a engineering disaster though. To move the cradle into the 45 degree angle you must take off the sides of the cradle. Once in the 45 degree angle the USB cable coming out of the cradle now prevents it from sitting flush on a desk (see pic with this review).
I will be using this scanner a lot this weekend. If there are no issues with scanning I will probably keep this one even though the cradle is poorly designed. The price sure beats a $500 plus Zebra scanner.
