We have not had a stove top kettle in many years; however after the untimely demise of our recently purchased electric kettle, and while waiting for the warranty claim resolution, I went hunting for a stove top kettle for our gas range. After looking at all price ranges, features and reviews, I chose this one. My philosophy in writing reviews is that I take responsibility for knowing what I have chosen, and if the item meets the advertised features, functions and performance, then it gets five starts. If after using it, it no longer meets the intended performance, then I amend the review and start marking it down.
That being said, I rated this product five stars because it does exactly what it is supposed to do; it heats water, whistles, with a properly adjusted flame none of the plastic parts melt or get so hot that you cannot handle with bare hands, it's nice and shiny inside and out, build quality seems adequate, it's light (heavy doesn't necessarily make it better, just heavy) and at the price point, it seems an exceptional buy. A really nice feature is that the handle can fold down to the side in one direction which makes filling and cleaning so much easier.
Some common sense notes: It whistles from low to high flame setting, only changing pitch. I found a medium flame setting more than adequate, but it really depends on the size of your burner. There is no benefit in having the flame come up the sides of the kettle, it belongs under the kettle.
It will not whistle until there is adequate steam pressure above the water. Yes, you will see steam coming out of the whistle without any whistling until the internal pressure builds up. It' s a boiler in principle, and the whistle acts as the relief valve. If you don't wait for the pressure to build and turn it off, you might incorrectly assume the whistle doesn't work. But the whole point of the whistle is that you can walk away and the whistle will let you know it is ready. If you are standing there, you don't need the whistle.
I fully expect scale and minerals to eventually build up inside. That is a function of our water quality, not the kettle. Past experience with similar kettles suggests that you don't keep water in it overnight (it's stale anyway by then) and remove the scale occasionally (vinegar & distilled water seems to work well) before it becomes a chore.
The takeaway - for the price, I feel this is an exceptional value. If history proves otherwise, I will appropriately amend the review.

My mom wanted a kettle like mine and I found this one. It works great but there is a scratch and a section of paint chipping. It still does its job just flawed
Look exactly as pictured

It arrived on time, looks pretty. Haven't gotten a chance to use it.
Handle gets kind of hot, but otherwise amazing.

It does what it is supposed to do: heat liquid at a reasonable speed.
Handle gets a bit hot though, so recommend like a small towel when grabbing it after it boils.
Whistle is not that loud, kind of a nice pleasant volume.
Cleaning is as simple as putting water in and then draining the water. Soap if you want.
Great for its price!

it's not a heavy duty kettle but can't complain for the price, plus the black with chrome is sharp looking.
