Helps reduce pulling

My Shih Tzu is a puller, and though he's only 12 lbs, he's stronger than he looks! I wanted to save my shoulder but also I figured it can't be good for him to keep choking himself on walks. It seems the leash extension has the right amount of tension to allow him to stretch out a little further to sniff the particular blade of grass he's interested in, then he backs off to relieve the pressure, whereas without it he held a steady tight pull on the leash with no give. I also clipped the second one onto his best friend around his same size and walked them together. Not only was it adorable, they didn't get tangled like they do when we use 2 separate leashes! My only complaint is that the D rings are unnecessarily large and clunky, which weighs the leash down and requires a large clip to secure 2 extensions at the end of 1 leash

Don't expect them to last forever. Don't use at full extention continuously. If your dog is a "puller" they will last about a week. So get professional training assistance if you can't get your dog to properly "heel".

This certainly does what it is designed for and the images illustrate. My 35lb hound and 25lb cavalier don't constantly pull, but they do jump, run or pull after birds. Being smaller, my arms survive okay, but for their necks' sake I thought I'd try this. It made an immediate positive difference. Using the extension, they pull even less often and when they do jump and run, both my arm and their necks experience less pain, as the bungee absorbs the shock power. However, while sturdy and great for the bigger dog (35lb), I had to quit using it for the smaller dog (25 lb) because it is heavy enough to weigh down the retractable leashes. My hound doesn't mind it getting between her legs occasionally (being taller it also happens less), but it made my rescue Cavalier nervous. I'm waiting for harnesses to arrive and I will try it again with more distance from the ground to see if that helps the leash not drag. It does as intended, though and saves arms and necks!
