Glad I spent a little extra motor and bought the Baldor. Very solid motor. It's been on my compressor now for a couple months. No issues.

Compressor manufacturer "inferred" only the replacement Baldor motor they offer will work...they were wrong. The OEM motor only lasted 300-400 hours. Hope this one outlives it many times over. If not, I'll update this review as necessary. Pulley alignment is tedious. The old motor had a 2.9" shaft, this motor has a 2.5" shaft but the pulley actually needs to be further on the shaft...don't know why, can only assume Baldor offset the mounting holes on the frame. I'm guessing they know what's up here. As others have stated, this motor is quieter than the OEM. The cooling intake slots are on the shaft face of the motor bearing housing instead of radially on the cylinder housing like the OEM motor.

It is a great value for the money. Saved a ton! Amazon wants me to use sheerness and warmth in my review so here goes. I didn't experience any sheerness in the bolts as I installed this motor. Of course I tightened them to spec. It does have a little warmth as it is running, which is to be expected but never a heating issue or ever getting hot. Very good motor for my compressor.

I purchased this motor to replace the burned out original import motor in a large 80 gal IR air compressor. I decided to purchase one from a US manufacturer as opposed to many of the cheaper imports based upon my assumption of improved quality that would hopefully avoid having to repeat this process in the near term. Mechanically, the replacement was relatively easy, with only the motor mounting holes having to be reamed out a bit. The electrical connections were a bit more challenging due to most of the available room in the attached junction box being taken up by a huge overload switch, as well as additional connections needed for rotation direction selection. BTW, I found that the rotation direction as per Baldor's description is indicated from the motor front and not the shaft end as with most of the imports, so I was grateful that it was changeable. After making the required adjustments, the motor works great, and seems to run cooler than the original one hinting at higher electrical efficiency. In summary, I am satisfied with the outcome, and believe that the choice of this motor for this replacement was the right one.

It is powering my two-stage air compressor in the shop I have!
