Seems to be a durable, accurate moisture meter for hardwood. Meter measures moisture in several materials. The mode key is easy to use (check what mode the meter is in after you turn it on). Fresh cut lumber that has not been extensively dried will read out of range but moisture in lumber that has been air-dried or kiln-dried is quickly and accurately measured. I buy small batches of wood at consignment auctions and estate sales and this is a handy way of making sure what I buy is dry enough for my projects

This device works fine, but its application is quite limited. For detecting water leaks within your home (as intended in my case), a thermal camera offers significantly more precise leak location identification. While thermal cameras cost more, they effectively replace this device.
